Analyzing dreams...
I woke up very upset because I dreamed that my dad died.I remember reading that when you dream someone dies, it's a metaphor for something else. Anyone know what it is???
I'll feel better once I know!

Re: Analyzing dreams...
try herehttp://www.destinysgate.org/
it said this
Dreams are not always what they seem....For instance, dreaming that someone has died does not mean that the person will die. This is just one symbol of the dream. Along with other symbols in the dream, we can piece them together to give an accurate dream interpretation.
dont worry

Re: Analyzing dreams...
Please don't worry - dreams can be very disturbing.I often find when I try to interpret my dreams that I have to take the whole dream in the interpretation - not just one piece.
But I hate the feeling when you wake up from a bad dream and try to figure out what is reality.

Re: Analyzing dreams...
Death usually represents closure, as in the desire to end a relationship etc.

Re: Analyzing dreams...
Instead of taking dreams literally, try to remember how you FELT in the dream. What were your emotions when you dreamed that your father died? Now think about where you feel those emotions in some area of your life.
For example.....If you felt upset, lost, overwhelmed and angry in your dream, try to think of what might be making you feel those things in reality.

In indian culture they always say that if you dream someone died, they're going to live a long life. I remember my friend freaked out cuz she had a dream my dad died, and when i told him he got happy and i was like *** ?!?! hehe

Re: Analyzing dreams...
speaking from a psychology stand point...dream interpretation is freudian and is not really subscribed too...most feel that dreams are:
1. your brain sorting out information from the day
2. mental garbage...your brain throwing things out
3. completely random neurons firing...
so I would say that...the dream means nothing...I find that I usually drem about what I have thought about in some way or another...not that you were thinking about your dad dying...but just thinking about your dad...maybe as a grandfather...therefore taking on an older role?
