And the hits just keep on coming....

And the hits just keep on coming....

SO I just got home from the doc's and have in my possesion not one, not two but THREE new prescriptions. Why did I put a hole in my insurance card you ask?

BECAUSE...I have an aherniated (sp?) disk in my neck due to an old injury that I inflamed a month and a half ago at the gym and my neck went out.

So so far nothing drastic-no surgery in my future which is nice but I am on a week's worth of steroids (5, 4, 3, 2, 1 sequence) and muscle relaxers and then on antinflamttories and pain killers.

I start physical therapy next week after I am poked and prodded for 45 minutes for the nerve twst to make sure there is no permanent damage. And did I mention I need an MRI and I am peeing pickles because I'm MAJORLY claustrophobic?

So yes..not a great day for the Jenn butironically I feel an odd sense of calm because I KNOW WHat the problemm is and it can be addressed so its brought me the first real mental peace I've had in a few days. Let's hear it for bad news!

awww... that sux, but def. better than surgery and you're right, it's better knowing what it is rather than what it could be. and physical therapy can actually be fun!

Yea fun..'Squeeze the ball Jenn...No harder..Squeeze. HELLO CAN't You squeeze?'

To which sudden silence would fall because the therapist would be lying on the floor, knocked out by said ball.

LOL seriously though I was REALLY pissed by how much strength I lost in this damn arm. I knew I had because even 3 pound weigthts are heavy in that hand now but she was having me put my arms tense and try to push her back when she pushed on me and I hjust couldn't do it with the left at all. Kinda embarassing because this chick was my weight and I used to be pretty strong with the gym and all.

Its more annoying than anything. Pain I can live with but the time... UGH. Now I need to try and take longer lunch breaks and with the witch we shall not name as my coverage, thats dicey. So we'lll see!

i feel so bad jenn, i had a feeling something was wrong cuz you were just not getting better. but don't wory, if i made it through the mri (3x!!!!) then you can do it. i've heard if you request a scrip for xanax from your doc they'll give it to you to take right b/f the mri.

it will be ok!!!!!!

MM I might do that but then if Im sedated all I need is to have a panic attack because Im drugged lol.

I'll be fine. I love the love but its ok. It could always be worse. I could have been told I had 24 hours to live and have no ice creamm in the fridge. That would be a tragedy. This..is livable. I just needed to make noise about it.

Awww i hope your feel better. I know how you feel i have a bulging herniated disc in my neck from a car accident a year ago and was on a similar regime you are on. It ****** in the beginning. I was on all meds like you are but not the steroids and I was so dopey. Physical therapy stunk but it helped somewhat. i started feeling better 3 months ago from everything but still go once a month to the chiropractor.

Hope everything helps and it is good you don't need surgery. That would be the pits.

No. I have to start going 2x a week but she did say it's probably going to be a long term thing. That even ater thye physical therapy is over, I am going to have to keep workign on strengthening those mucles again on my own and I''ll probably always have issues and episodes due to the old injury.

Essentially I should have sued the b!tch whose car I was in during the accident but I wanted to be a 'good friend' and not sue my 'friend' so here we are now...with steroids.

DH wanted to know if they would have the same effect on certain precious parts of my anatamoy that they do on female body builders. Told him not to hold his breath lol.

I like squeezing balls.

I hope you feel better honey. Try to at least enjoy the drugs.

OMG Jenn this sounds like exactly what I went through right before the wedding!!

I have a herniated disc and a bulging disc in my neck (cervical spine). The pain was awful -- in the base of my neck, at the bottom of my left shoulder blade, in my bicep, and add to that numbness and tingling all the way down my left arm and into my fingers.

I went for a month of PT (3x a week), which didn't help me one bit.

What ended up working for me was the steroids. I hope you have luck with them too. My only problem with them is that I had trouble sleeping, which has lingered on.

The MRI was not terrible, but the nerve test (EMG) was absolute torture. You might remember my test about it from a few months ago

Right now I am dealing with a torn tendon in my right shoulder rotator cuff, and will be having surgery to repair the tear at the beginning of May.

It has NOT been a fun journey

If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to FM me anytime!

Sorry to hear this. I hope you feel better.
I know this will not make it better, but did you know they have the Open MRI machine, so you won't have that closed in feeling.

Re: And the hits just keep on coming....

I have a herniated disc in my back... It's manageable.. I'm actually about to start a book that my step BIL SWEARS by that pretty much says that herniated discs and pinched nerves are a myth and the pain is more of a psychological thing (unless they're tumors)

I haven't started it yet but I'll let you know if I believe it or not... Step BIL had awful back problems and he says it's helped him.

Hang in there... I know first hand how awful the pain is.. but PT will help tremendously
