SO I just got home from the doc's and have in my possesion not one, not two but THREE new prescriptions. Why did I put a hole in my insurance card you ask?
BECAUSE...I have an aherniated (sp?) disk in my neck due to an old injury that I inflamed a month and a half ago at the gym and my neck went out.
So so far nothing drastic-no surgery in my future which is nice but I am on a week's worth of steroids (5, 4, 3, 2, 1 sequence) and muscle relaxers and then on antinflamttories and pain killers.
I start physical therapy next week after I am poked and prodded for 45 minutes for the nerve twst to make sure there is no permanent damage. And did I mention I need an MRI and I am peeing pickles because I'm MAJORLY claustrophobic?
So yes..not a great day for the Jenn butironically I feel an odd sense of calm because I KNOW WHat the problemm is and it can be addressed so its brought me the first real mental peace I've had in a few days. Let's hear it for bad news!

You're right - knowing what it is, even if its not the best news, is better than not knowing why something hurts so much.
I hope the MRI isn't going to be too bad. Make sure to ask for an open MRI. Also, they can play music for you to calm you down and you can have DH or whoever be on the other side of the wall and they can talk to you through the mic.

Awww Jenn how terrible!! Sorry to hear about your disc problem, they s*ck!!!!!!! I had a lower back one and needed the surgery a few yrs ago, it changed my life!!! But hopefully the PT and meds will help you. Feel better!!!!

Aww honey, feel better and enjoy those muscle relaxers.
You will be fine during the MRI, as Yesi said, get a script for some Xanax to keep you calm.

Carolinep if you like the book let me know and i will peek into it. I really wish it was a myth (cause NO MRI for me then!) but considering I went from bencging 160 to feeling like 3 pounds in the left hand is too heavy, not sold on it. But trying to keep an open mind cause I HATE meds!
Everyone else, THNKS! I am puttering along. Its manageabel most of the time-Ive lived with pain since 1999 so I deal, but after it went out it even hurts to swallow. Doc said its because everythign is connected and its spasming. She called those muscles by anme but of cousre I don't remember.
I can deal with pain but I can't even pic up a jar anymore with that hand which is BS soooo I am trying as said to keep an open mind and try the PT and the steroids which I starte today. SIX frickin pills!

Thanks Helen. Im ok. Im more exasperated than anythign esle. its more like OYE one MORE thing to do and scehdule! Rather than 'OH NO!' I just roll my eyes now and say' Ok I get it. I am walking around with an invisible bullseye tattooed across my @ss.'

So sorry to hear this. Oddly enough, my DH just went to the Dr. a week ago & was put on all the same meds, and also came home with a script for xrays (since the last ones he had was 2 yrs. ago). To top it all off....we DON'T have health insurance! I hope you feel better soon

Oh Heather that *****! I have insurance thank God and still dragging my feet. Physical therapy just seems pointless to me because what are they going to teach em to do? Stretch? Show em once and let me do it on my own. 45 minutes is a lot of time out of my life 2x a week.
I hope your DH feels better!

Update for today is I feel ok. Stiff but ok in the neck. BUT my back is KILLING me and Im not supposed to be taking Motrin or Tylenol. I think its from Aunt Flo but who knows. Just REALLY sore achy.

And.... if it makes you feel better... I had to go for a dehydration test where I couldn't drink anything for 3.5 hours (which is so hard for me bc I am thirsty all the time..) and I get the blood drawn Monday and the lab called me today and told me the blood clotted and I have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Once is bad enough, but now twice???
