I'm obviously under a different screen name b/c I'm a regular poster and I just dont want to seem like a whiny baby- but I need just one good vent!
I HATE MY PROOFS!!!!! It makes me sooo sad b/c my wedding was so much more than my pictures reflect. They don't show all of my hard work and planning. They don't show the emotion. This was it-my wedding day-I'll NEVER get that day back again and it really, really makes my heart hurt.
I'm so happy for all of you girls whose pictures came out beautiful, I really am, but seeing them makes me even more resentful of my photographer and these pictures. It's so disappointing to plan for so long and be let down like this, I feel like I failed b/c I made a poor choice in photographers. I really wouldn't wish this feeling on my worse enemy.
I know I should be thankful I married this wonderful man and in the end that's all that matters but it's heartbreaking when I look at my proofs.
Thanks for listening, like I said I just needed a minute for a pity party. I let it out and I'm going to release it and be thankful for all of the wonderful things in my life.

I am so sorry your proofs aren't what you were expecting!!! Did you get a video done of the wedding so you will have that?? I kind of understand how you feel because my photographer didn't get alot of my pictures that I wanted him to take either. A lot of my DIY's went unphotographed. I have pictures of them before the wedding but not really incorporated in the wedding so for that I will always be disappointed. Here are many hugs for you.

Re: Anonymous Vent...
oooh honey lots of hugs and love
u're NOT being a whiney baby at all...if my photos weren't to my liking i would be just as upset. however, u can't do anything about it now - so being upset is really only going to make u feel worse. U have to think that the situation itself could've been worse...imagine if u didn't get any photos at all?!?!?!! My SIL's photographer fell off the face of the planet and never gave her ANYTHING!!! we're all here for u & u can vent as much as u like. I'm so sorry about ur photos
u could also try calling or emailing some friends & family...u'd be suprised how many people will have GREAT pictures of ur day. hugs again 'cause i know u need them

I'm sorry you are so upset. I was a bit dissapointed in my photos as well. It was my own fault because I didn't give the photographer a list. Like you I think my pictures look so run of the mill and boring. My photos are all posed out and non of the little details were captured. I still have not even put my album together. I will say that as time has passed I don't really care anymore. At first I was really upset about it but now I just think my album will be under my bed. the important thing is that the people that were at the wddding had a great time and of course that you and Dh had a good time. You did do all your details for them right not for a photo album that will be looked at every few years. Just remember all your guests got to experience all your hard work first hand. If you had 5 photographers at your wedding they could not capture how awesome the day was because seeing it and living it are completely different. I went through my pics and picked out a few that I really loved these will be my enlargements that i will look at everyday (if I ever bring them to the photographer.) I know that as time passes you won't really be as upset anymore is not really what you want to hear but for me it was so true.

I think the idea of getting photos from your family and friends is great. Also, I tend to second guess myself alot, so if it was me, I'd put the proofs away for a few days or a week or so. Then, when you have a quiet time with your husband, take them out, have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and take a second look together. Maybe reliving the day with him will make you like them a little more... If not, maybe you can think about a day after shoot with another photographer.

I'm sooo sorry. we have hundreds of photos from friends... and despite being very happy with our proofs, our friends still managed to capture some perfect moments the photographers missed...
definitely ask everyone for a CD of photos... you'll be pleasantly surprised

Aww honey! I know it *****. The same thign happened to us-all our formals are bad quality so they cant be enlarged and I had a FIT but after crying for a week, realized friends and fam had some great shots and I made an album for us MY WAY and you know..Im happy with it. Maybe putting them together ina different way will help you appreicate the good ones you have. FM me if you want to talk and I can take a look at em and maybe give you ideas on how to work them so you at least are happier, if not 'happy.'

Re: Anonymous Vent...
I'm sorry you're not happy. It S UCKS, especially when it has to do with such a big occasion.
In my honest opinion, pictures are a poor substitute for the memories I have of my wedding day... and if I'm being perfectly honest, the longer I'm married, the less I care about my photos. I haven't even picked out the ones for my album, yet, and can't get motivated to. Don't get me wrong, I do like my photos - I'm just not into the wedding anymore.
While it was a great day and a wonderful memory, take this as an opportunity to make more wonderful memories along the way. When all is said and done, if you have even 1 or 2 nice pictures, then that's really all you need. I won't be showing people or displaying dozens of wedding photos in my home 10 years from now -- just a few special ones.
I think this is just a really longwinded way of saying 'I'm sorry you're disappointed, but this too shall pass.'
I'm by no means saying you shouldn't be upset. I think anyone would be upset if they hated their photographs. I don't envy you at all. Just try to focus on the more positive things and know that, as time goes on, this will seem less and less important.

i'm so sorry that you hate your proofs! It must be very upsetting to not have all of the details documented.
All I can say to you is that as long as you have a few good photos of you and your DH to show your children, all is good. I look at my parent's wedding album all the time......from the 60s. There was nothing elaborate about these photos.....no closeups of details or bouquets; just shots of them young and in love, and of my other family members when they were young. Those are the things that your children will appreciate, too.
I was fortunate that my photographers were excellent....but now that I have my album I wonder if I made a mistake chooding photos of flowers and shoes and placecards. I wish I had just a few more of random guest shots and portraits.
The grass is always greener on the other side, I suppose.

Re: Anonymous Vent...
I am soooo sorry you're so disappointed with your pictures! They say we're our own worst critics and I'm sure that if you showed us the pics, we could point out a ton of great shots - heck, maybe you posted them and we already did that! But the important thing is how YOU like your pictures and nothing really can change that. If you are this displeased with them, have you considered doing day after pics with a different photographer? I KNOW that won't replace pictures of the big day and with family and friends, but at least you could get some great shots of you and your husband?

This is a WONDERFUL point. Doesn't make it better, but keep this in mind too!
