Another gift advice
What should I get my daughter's teacher. She goes to private school and is in Pre-K. She has 1 teacher and 2 helpers. I would like to give them a little something but I have no idea as to what.

Re: Another gift advice
DH's mother is a kindergarten catholic school teacher and she gets a lot of gift cards to either barnes & noble or dunkin donuts. I guess parents are not sure what to buy so they give those.

Re: Another gift advice
I would say $50 to either Barnes and Noble or Dunkin'. I think that's a good amount for books or morning treats for herself.

i'd do at least $50 for the teacher, and about $20-30 for each of the helpers ...

Re: Another gift advice
I'm going to be the odd man out, and say, that in my humble opinion, $50 for a teacher is too much. I also think $20-30 per helper is alot as well. These people do not expect gifts at christmastime, although it is nice to thank them for the work they do for our children.
With that said, I would quite honestly give the teacher a gift of a max amount of $25 and I would not purchase anything for the helpers (but iw ould write them a TY card) but if i were to buy the helpers a gift, it would be a max amount of $10.
Also, there is a smart way to shop, that I'm sure we are all great at, using coupons and going during sale days. Some stores, like TJ Max/Home Goods, for example, have awesome items that can be gift worthy that do not cosst that much but look much more expensive than they are.
Also keep in mind that many teachers are actually prohibited from receiving gifts at all, especially cash gifts. I know this to be true for NYC public schools, but not necessarily for Catholic/Private schools.
Not saying this to cause
but if you have 2+ kids giving out presents to teachers can really add up fast. And then what happens when your kids have more than one teacher as they get older, it can quickly spiral out of control. But again, its all up to what you can and want to spend

completely agree!!! $50 is ridic!! my mom was a teacher in public school and i went to private, so from both perspectives we never gave/she never recieved more than $20 gift.
as for other ideas...a nice scarf...those food gift sets that you can find in CVS (like the pancake mix from knottsberry farm), a nice ornament.
my goal would be to get all 3 gifts for under $50!!!!

Re: Another gift advice
When I was working as a teacher in a daycare center, I usually got gift baskets filled with bath & body items, picture frames, and jewelry. Some parents would make baked goods, some would give me gift cards-usually for $25 to a chain restaurant. My assistant always seemed to get either the body gel/lotion combo set, or a makeup/nail polish set.
