another gift question and a outfit question

One of our GM had a destination wedding in Vegas and were were not invited, no big deal they only invited 25 people.

They live in FL and her parents are from FL, so they had a small party in FL. Tomorrow they are have a 3 hour cocktail hour party at flowerfields for their NY friends and family.

He was a GM in our wedding and came up from Florida (he comes up every summer for 2 weeks anyway) with his wife but gave us $100 gift.

What should we give this weekend?

&

What should I wear to this party, it's like a 3 hour cocktail hour from 2-5.

thanks

Re: another gift question and a outfit question

did he do anything for the bach party? or anything else that contributed to the GM expenses (e.g., tux)?

i would probably give $200.

and i would wear a cocktail dress. 2-5 you can probably get away with just a nice summer dress too, but the dress-ier kind.

Re: another gift question and a outfit question

just the tux, he didn't go to the batch party. and we spent $150 on each GM for being in the wedding.

I was thinking $150-$200, but the DH says the same as he gave us $100

when it comes to stuff with DH's friends, unless i feel very strongly about something, i defer to DH's judgement in situations that directly relate to his friendships.

so in this case, i would probably defer to Anthony and let him decide what to do. your job is to look cute and be happy for them

Re: another gift question and a outfit question

Most often times, I give what I was given... though I do look at each situation and the 'story' behind it.

In this case I'd probably do the $150-200... Or at least try to cover your 'plate' so to speak...

Even though he only gave $100 - I'm betting he factored in travel expenses (wrongly so given he usually travels up)... but who knows how people think!

Yeah, I kinda wouldn't have done that in his shoes. You were coming up anyway...

I'd probably just give the $100, especially since that's what DH wants.
