A friend of mine that was at my weding is getting married soon. The couple gave us a gift that is much less than I would ever give. When I go to their wedding, do I give them what they gave me, or what I am comfortable giving? I don't want them to feel bad, but at the same time I am uncomfortable going to a wedding and giving what they gave. TIA.

Re: Another Wedding Gift Question
I think you should give an amount you would normally give, and don't even think about what they gave... who knows what their circumstances were at the time.

Re: Another Wedding Gift Question
Is there a reason that you know of that would cause them to give a smaller gift (like did one of them lose their job or something)? If so, then I would give them what you are comfortable giving. If not, then I would just give what they gave.

Re: Another Wedding Gift Question
Thanks everyone. They are not from the NYC area so I guess they didn't know what was appropriate. I think they also factored the cost of getting to the wedding as part of the gift, which I dont consider it to be. I have to travel to get to her wedding as well, and she was already engaged at my wedding. And they did not have any financial problems at the time of the wedding.

They might have had problems that you didn't know about. Maybe they just didn't know how much as 'assumed' that they should give. Someone gave me $30, and I thought it was nice they gave me something, no matter how much it was.

I am in the same situation! Our wedding is in Utah and well we decided we are going to give more than they gave us. I know its a weird situation but we are just giving what we normally give everyone!
Edit..I meant the wedding we are going to is in Utah! Our wedding was on LI!
