Any good ideas on...

It's so nice to come on this board and see so many familiar names from my planning days! Well, it's almost our 1 year anniversary (8/2) and I need some thoughts on what to get my husband.
Background info: we have been together for 11 years now, and I have purchased all the gifts you can think of- watch, cufflinks, suits, palm pilot, etc. He's the guy who doesn't 'need' anything! So I'm polling all of you, the ladies who all gave me such great wedding ideas and support. I would really like to give him something to remember... What do you think?

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Any good ideas on...

i am totally in your position! we have been together for 10 years - and I have purchased everything imaginable.

I don't know what your husband is into, but I started hitting Ebay at one point. He's really into photography and I had found this Rodchenko print and had it framed. For Christmas, I got him the Fisher Price apple toy (he was the Fisher price baby when he was little in the print ads) - old Sinatra albums, etc.

Another option is a massage - a great 'manly-like' place is Carapan in the city. There is a place called The Art of Shaving that sells GREAT shave products and also sells certificates for a shave. I don't know if your hubby would be into that stuff - mine is kind of girlie!

Jenny,
Thanks, e-bay is a great start! I was going to get him new golf clubs...but he beat me to it!! He also has his 30th b-day coming up in October, but I have a plan for that! I'm leaning to art work or a collectible of some sort. He's a financial planner, maybe they have an original ticker from Wall Street on e-bay.

Actually, I think that is what he has in mind! We got engaged in Newport, RI and I think he may bring me back there.

Re: Any good ideas on...

I have a similar situation every birthday, christmas, etc...its ridiculous. He has everything!

For our 1 year, Im probably going to get him an antique map of our area framed. NOt crazy expensive since we are going away for our anniversary, but fits the 'paper' anniversary rules.

Re: Any good ideas on...

I am in the same position as you, so I am reading your thread to steal ideas IT will be our 1st anniv in 11 dys and all I can think of is an upgrade on his wedding band. At first he didn't want a band with diamonds but he seem to like mine, so I might get him that.

What about a day at the spa

His he in to any sports

A magazine subscription

A weekend away

I dunno

Re: Any good ideas on...

I am always in the same boat with DH. our anniversary is still 3 months away but his b-day is only a couple months....He has everything he needs - or so I often feel.

I usually do well with electronics type gifts. One year I got him a 400 CD player and he loved it. I have like 20 CD's and he has hundreds. He loved it because you can type in all the names of the songs and cd's and set mixes and stuffs. Then I got him an mp3 player which surprisingly he loves. The Ipod - is suppose to be great - maybe get him an upgrade? Or maybe new speakeres but I think he really needs a whole new home theater and not sure I can pick that out myself.

What about fitness equipment? - my DH would love anything like that but not sure I would be good at picking it out too. He would love a treadmill, bench and free weights. I also bought him a mountain bike one year and he likes it a lot though barely has a chance to use it.

Not sure what else.....

Re: Any good ideas on...

Clocks are for the modern anniversary. For traditional its paper.

We ended up deciding our vacation in August is our gift to each other (tickets being paper!) and I bought him a cheesy romance novel, personalized for us! Also I'm thinking of getting a lottery ticket for 728 (our anniversary date). I had the hardest time thinking of something too - we've been together 9 years and he's not really into things such as hobbies except sports and he has all that stuff already.

Re: Any good ideas on...

Heather ... How are you? I was wondering how you are? I'm so glad you posted! Rob actually asked me about you indirectly ... he asked if that girl whose husband was on TV was going to be at one of the GTGs? How funny is that?

As for your anniversary ... hmmm, I'd say paper - like tickets to something. Is there a concert he wants to see, or a show? I was going to say a weekend trip, but some had said that already!
