a lot of the stuff listed on the MLS website is already taken. you are best to have a realtor send you regular updates when something matching your interests comes up/is listed. that way you can jump on it. you may also want to check realestate.yahoo.com
good luck!

Re: Any good websites for homes on LI?
DH was the one who did the online searching and one site he went to was Newsday's online home classifieds. They have pics. I dont know if it's the same stuff that's on MLS but it's worth checking out.

A good way to get listings is to work with a realtor. Give them the basics of what you are looking for and your e-mail address. I get listings on a daily basis from the 3 agents we are working with - They can get you the stuff that JUST came on the market in addition to the street addresses of many of the homes (which most sites don't have!)
Edited to say that I agree with bride082003 . My friend is a real estate agent and she told me the same thing.

Check each realtor's website Wednesday and Fridays. They post the upcoming open houses a few days before they are listed in the paper ... Century 21, Remax, Prudential, ERA, Coldwell Banker, etc ....

Jenn,
I was going to say the same. Go to the realtor in the neighborhood you are interested in. Most realtors can take you to several houses on multiple listing. You want to find someone you feel comfortable with and you feel will be honest (for the most part). You can go to the realtor's website sometimes they list their houses as exclusives. I FM you.

When we were looking, we were faithful users of Domania
It was especially helpful to be able to see how much other homes in neighborhoods we liked had sold for, so we had a better idea of how much to offer and haggle.
