I live on LI, but I still belong to NYRR bc they offer sooooo many races at nearly every distance. If you like to run it is a great option.I can never figure out how to find races on Long Island.

There is a nyrr race on Dec 19th. Its a 15k. i am already signed up!
I was actually debating doing this one...but its kinda far for me. 15k seems like agreat distance.
DO it!!!! Lisa is volunteering for this one and she is going to be at a water station!
city is not too far!
yes i will be there - most likely freezing to death. i need it to qualify for the 2011 NYC marathon, so i can't skip it. Colleen if you run it, let me know so i can cheer you on!

oh alsolulu is a Canadian company, I have about 5 pairs that I've had (literally) since high school! I LOVE them. LIVED in them in college. I can't justify the expense now but when mom and dad were paying I was all for it! They really are great quality and last forever! I still work out in them, and wear them when I fly!

Re: Any lulu lovers?
I thought lululemmon was a NEW thing wow!I AM a runner too LOVE it. Ran a 5 mile turkey trot. Usually 10K is my max but i am really looking to up my mileage... usually in the summer I will hit 7 or 8 for a few weeks.
Intrigued by the 15k but not sure I can up my mileage in time! Have a nagging injury but LOVE mixing up my workout routine and ENJOYING it more POST wedding 'doing it for FUN' ya know?
But there is the winter run series (i think they are all 5k) Sundays in January on LI. Come spring I'll definitely be there with you for a 15 k or 10 mile!! reminds me i need new sneaks asap!

I can never figure out how to find races on Long Island.
Do you usually drive to the races or take the train? I hate the thought of having to sit on the train in my sweaty running clothes!
Are you a member of the Greater Long Island Running Club? (glirc.org). They have a ton of races. You also get a monthly magazine that lists all of the upcoming races and the results of past races. Also Long Island Road Runners usually do ones in Eisenhower Park (very cheap..like $9race).

I drive. For the longer races, (like the half) I stay in the city the night before (and i make DH come and cheer me on in multiple locations).
I crash at my brother's apt a lot too so it makes it easy.
Can you sign up for GLIRC races if not a member?
