We are! We just started. Market is great for buyers now, but our budget is making it difficult to find a nice house in a good area. Tricky thing is, I work in a very affluent town...and all the towns surrounding it are pretty affluent or the taxes are just high (thanks to Bergen County! ). I want to live near my job but it's just soooooo expensive!
How's it going for you newlyweds? Anyone else on the hunt?

Weare going to wait a little longer. We will eventually be looking in Nassau County, Mineola hopefully. Prices are still coming down so we are holding off!!!

Re: Any other newlyweds on the house hunt?
I'm wondering if we should wait too...our lease is up at the end of March and we are just sooo anxious to get out of there. And supposedly it gets really slow in the winter...ugh I hope we have some luck!!

We are waiting a while. Eventually we'd like to move out of the area though--it's too expensive

Re: Any other newlyweds on the house hunt?
We had started to look but DH doesn't want to leave Plainview, but it's ssssoooo expensive even before taxes that we're kind of just looking right now. Plus his income is likely to change drastically over the next year (way down and then way up) so we don't want to get stuck with a payment we can't afford.

Re: Any other newlyweds on the house hunt?
We are going to start, the best time to buy is going to be around Feb. The market is still dropping so we are waiting a couple more months. Good Luck with your search

February? Oh darn that's a little late for us...closing takes a while, I imagine so we probably need to get a house by January. Why are they saying it's going to be best to buy in Feb? Thanks!

Because prices will keep dropping till then and cheapest time to buy, but the prices are still dropping now and if you want a house go for it. I read that February will just be a more affordable time to buy because people arent really buying right now and the prices will get cheaper.

Where are you looking in Bergen County? So far we tried Fair Lawn and Hawthorne (although that's Passaic County)...all the houses so far in our price ranges are dumps. We're gonna branch out to Oakland and Wanaque I think...

I'm in jersey too, and the taxes and prices for houses are crazy. You can't get anything for under $500K...it's insane.
