Any Tahiti Honeymooners that bought loose pearls?/ Know a good jeweler?

We bought some loose Tahitian Black Pearls and I'm looking for a good jeweler that knows how to set them. Any recommendations?

YES!!!!!!!!!! I got mine in Tahaa, and got it for 50.00!!!! It is set in a white gold setting and it is on a bail that is also an enhancer. I got my oster one and she set hers in white gold with diamond enhancer. They both look gorgeous! I just got it set at Gennero's in Bellmore. The jeweler was so fascinated by it he wanted to know the story behind it. Where did you get yours?

I got mine at the Motu pearl farm in Tahaa , which was a shore excursion on our cruise. This was part of the island to raitea. It was my favorite island!!! I wore my black pearl for the first time tonight and everyone was complementing me on it!

I bought my loose black pearls direct from the pearl farm in Huahine. I think you may save a bit by buying direct from the pearl farm. You should shop around, though. We met people on vacation/business trip who were in the jewelry business in the US and they mentioned that Moorea was where they bought pearls because of the quantity and quality of stores.

It's been 1 1/2 years and I still have not gotten my pearls set as I'm not sure who to bring them to. So, looking back I probably should have bought the pearls already set.

I, too, would be interest to know if anyone has a recommendation for jewelers in Manhattan to set my pearls.

I would also think Moorea has more reasonably priced pearls, I really looked at them in Bora Bora and they were very pricey. I went on a jeep tour in Moorea and our tour guide, very nice man told us he could hook us up with a wholesaler that would offer a better price than the shops, he has all the legit paperwork too. I was considering this, but at the time I really didn't want them that bad. But it's worth checking out.

Re: Any Tahiti Honeymooners that bought loose pearls?/ Know a good jeweler?

I hear that the best priced pearls are in Moorea and Raiatea at the pearl farms. We didn't want to island-hop so we only stayed in Bora Bora so that's where I got mine and I'm sure I overpaid but, oh well.

I bought mine from Sibani but NYCO also had very nice quality pearls although waaaaay pricier and less selection than Sibani. Sibani seemed to have the best selection of various quality pearls.
