My little doggie is sick I think. He keeps shaking and feels hot He is only 3 1/2 pounds so I get worried when he gets sick. I cant bring him to the vet until Thursday....Are there any vets out there that can help???

I have a chihuhua and theiri temps are normally high (around 101-102)

He is a Maltese. He is 6 and is not usually that warm, thats why i was a lil concerned......Poor baby

My maltese went through something like this a while ago. Luckily we got her to the vet in time...she was really sick and they told us we could have lost her. Try to keep him warm and hydrated, even if you have to use a dropper to put water down his throat and get to the vet asap!
ETA: I know it's kind of icky, but if you have a rectal thermometer, take his temp...I think that normal is about 101-102. You can also use a timpanic(sp?) thermometer and take his temp in his ear. Keep us posted.

Check his gums, if they are pale then he is getting dehydrated and you may want to bring him to the vet sooner becasue smaller dogs decompensate and dehydrate VERY quickly!!!

are you near the north shore animal league? they have a clinic there. I would walk in w/o an appt. and they're super cheap and take excellent care of their pets/clients.
