that was pre-printed so the couple didn't hand write ANYTHING on the card at all?

I have and I definitely noticed. Its better then getting no card at all, but I would never say anything about it, I just would not send a pre printed thank you card.
I don't think anyone enjoys writing thank you cards out, but if someone comes to your wedding/ bapitsm ect and gives a gift it is a nice gesture to hand write a card , even if you have to do them in batches , JMO
i have to agree....these people took the time out of their lives, in some cases travelled a great distance to get to your event (wedding, baptism, etc)....they presumably gave you a gift and i feel that they deserve a hand written thank you card.
i DEFINITELY felt EW about the card that we got for the baptism that was done with a label....Dave on the other hand didn't care...but i was surprised...as the pp said - do them in groups...that's what we did - maybe 10 a day or so..they all got done.
Also - hand written notes - i tend to keep - as thought/care obviously went into them (we have a huge box of stuff things like that, that i keep) and non hand written ones go right in the trash...

Yes I have. They didn't even write our names in the card.
Hmmm...I think I can manage that!
To each their own. I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone what to do. Personally, I was raised to always write a personal, hand-written note when thanking someone. I also hate my hand writing and find it to be tedious, but for whatever reason, these people came out, gave a gift, set aside the time to share in my/our day (shower/wedding) and I think they should be given the courtesy to open a thank you card that says, 'thank you so much for coming and sharing in our day and your generous gift. It was great to see you and i loved your dress (or something else personal)'.
I know when i get a thank you card stating specifically what I gave/purchased as a gift, i know the person took the time to pull out my card and see what I gave them.
JMO, but as I said, to each their own

I totally agree. And I disagree with the poster who said she only wrote personal notes for OOTers -- in my opinion, *everyone* deserves a thank you - not just those who travelled from afar. To me, that's like saying the ones who lived around the corner from the RH didn't matter. Just my opinion of course. I'm even thanking those who came but didn't even give a card - because the thank you is just as much about thanking them for being there to witness the most important day of your life thus far as it is about thanking them for a gift.

I dont really care. If its the photo ones (the collages) I would think that they spent time and extra money putting it together. If it was someone I was very close to, they would have already thanked me.

Re: Any1 ever get a thank u card....
our thank you cards came with a preprinted note with our names. I still wrote mine out. Im not going to say that I would be insulted if someone didnt write one out to me but I definetly notice.
I took the time out to write mine b/c I felt thats what I should do. People traveled, gave gifts and were with us on our special occasions. I felt they at the least deserved that, but thats just me.
One time DH's friend sent us a preprinted thank you card for a christening gift and he was the godfather. That kind of hurt our feelings. We took the time out to get really nice gifts for and be there. They could have at least sent a formal note, I mean he was the godfather

Re: Any1 ever get a thank u card....
Of course I thanked everyone even if they lived around the corner I appreciated everything they did for us. But just because my message wasn't hand written I dont think its wrong or rude JMO... It was a message we chose and it was printed with our picture. Why would I hand write something if theres already a message on it. These thank yous were a part of my photography package so I didn't want to spend more $ on blank cards just to 'hand write' something. My OOT came from cali so I felt I should write something a little extra since it was not printed on my cards.

I never got one of these before but I plan to send my thank you's pre-printed and write in the 'Dear ___' and 'Love ___ & ____' so this doesn't offend me.

Re: Any1 ever get a thank u card....
My thank you card was like that.....let me explain. By doing the one-paged thank you with pic on top and pre-printed message on the bottom, our family and guests received a picture of us that was pretty close to 4X6. They can cut it out and keep it or frame it (for our immediate families). I LOVED it when I saw it and hate the other cards (no offense) that have tiny wallet-sized pictures....so when I asked if they could make the picture bigger, they showed me other options and was so happy I asked!
HOWEVER, I bought thank you cards that folded and wrote a personal message to each of our guests....I felt bad NOT writing anything, so opted to do this. Yup, it made more work for me to pack up lol, but I couldn't do it any other way. I didn't want to write on the back and chance the print marking through the front of the picture.

Re: Any1 ever get a thank u card....
My parents got one of these a few days after everyone received our wedding thank-yous. It was sort of amusing b/c this couple got married 3 months before we did, and are from the same family - so all my family members who were at their wedding were also at ours. I wrote a TON in everyone's thank-you cards, AND I got them out before she did, so everyone thought I was this wonderful person and she looked like the rude one. She didn't even write 'Dear ____ & ____' and she didn't sign their names. It just comes off very cold IMO.
It's weird though... I find a pre-printed wedding thank you way more offenseive than I find a pre-printed like Christmas card... I don't know why... I guess b/c Christmas cards arent thanking anyone for anything, and they arent really looked upon as 'etiquette' the way a thank-you card is.

i agree. Like I see nothing wrong with an xmas card of a family photo saying 'Merry Christmas, Love the Smiths.' Because like you said, it isn't thanking anyone for anything. And xmas cards arn't even really expected. Like you expect them, but if someone decides not to send them this year you wont pass them off as rude. You probably wouldnt even notice!

I'm in the process of making mine now and we wrote a very short pre-printed message in the card but we will (and if you read my above posts) write a very personal message in each card thanking them for their gift and coming. the pre-printed note just says a very nice thanks... I will write in the personal stuff.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! It's the people who can't even write 'Dear So & So' or sign their names that I find rude.
We did pre-printed Christmas cards this year, but I found cute Holiday memo paper and am writing little notes and sticking them in with the cards for some people... like the ones we don't see often, etc. I thought it added a cute, even more personal touch to them

that is really rude
It's NOT rude.. We had our cards pre printed bc there was no reason to write specialized thank yous for EVERY person that attended our wedding. We wrote personalized ones for our immediate family and bridal party. Everyone else got a beautiful poem inside that we wrote ourselves and signed from both of us..
