people that came to the wedding and did not give a gift?
We have 3 people...who are all related (2 couples and then their father).
What do you do...I hope the cards weren't 'lost' - but how do you ask? I dont want to NOT thank them, but according to us, we didn't get a gift.

It's not that I care so much that they didn't, it's that i worry that they did and it got lost or something and then I dont thank them
Actually I just remembered there was one more person, a good friend who I work with.

Re: Anybody have...
I went through the same exact thing. It's so upsetting and aggravating. We looked though all our stuff so many times to make sure we didnt loose anything and I was totally paranoid about that before the wedding that I swore I would be like policing those envelopes...in the end we concluded there were about 8 people who didnt give a gift, some were family who we know have the $$$ so we don't know what gives there.
we decided not to say anything to anyone about it, and in our thank you's we just said thank you for being there to share our special day
sorry you have to deal with this; it seems like we see this same post every so often so I guess there are plenty of deadbeat/broke/clueless guests out there.

Re: Anybody have...
yea we did but we didn't ask them about it. i wouldnt be comfortable putting ppl on the spot over it. we just sent thank yous with a generic message like 'thank you for being there to share in our special day, yada yada....'

Re: Anybody have...
we had several...
my question is, do you still send a thank you card? we were keeping track of thank yous by looking at our guest book(wish card) list and our card/gift list... if they didn't give a card/gift or sign a wishcard how do we know they were there?
I know that sounds stupid, but we didn't spend the night going table to table, we spent the night dancing, so if you weren't on the dance floor, or didn't make an effort to talk to us, i may have missed you... i don't want to send some people a thank you and not others you know?
any advice?

Re: Anybody have...
Nope. My SIL left w/o giving us a gift b/c she left it in her baby bag and forgot about it. She gave it to us the next day. HOWEVER, we did have EIGHT people give us one $400 gift certificate for a hotel in Lake Placid and online, it looked as if the rooms started at $405.

Re: Anybody have...
We had about 6 people not give gifts. 1 couple (good friends of ours actually gave us the card and check like last month). The other couple everytime we see them they always say oh we have your wedding card in the car (um, so go get it ) and the other people.........well, lets just say I was so shocked that we didnt get anything...not even a card (VERY VERY VERY close family members on his side). i still sent them thank you's.....even though I didnt really want to.

Re: Anybody have...
Yes, but she also showed up uninvited, so she's not getting a thank you. She was able to buy a plane ticket to and from Florida to crash my wedding, but gave no gift and made it clear to a few people that she never planned on giving us one so it wasn't that the card was lost.
I have another friend who didn't give a gift, but she's going through some personal stuff so I didn't expect anything. She will be getting a thank you for sharing in our day.

i did this too - if they sent you a gift, they will most likely asked what happened since the thank you makes it sund like you didn't receive one.

We didn't get a gift from someone on DH's side. His mom called the person and they said that they gave it to us but there was cash in the envelope. Oh well, what are you gonna do?

Re: Anybody have...
ditto
We got married in November and we still got a few gifts this month. People have up to a year to send a gift.

Re: Anybody have...
we had a few people who did this...and one person mailed us a gift three months after the wedding. we just sent those people thank you's with something generic like 'thanks for sharing our day with us.' that way, at least they got a thank you on the off chance that we misplaced the gift, although i dont think that happened.
some of the people that didnt give gifts are getting married later this year/next year, so I'm not sure what to do when their weddings come around....
