We haven't. It is all packed away until we get a house to put it in. Once in a while, I peek into the boxes.
We have only just started to use our other kitchen gifts now. I guess I thought it was bad luck to use them before the wedding and just never got into the habit of taking them out. DH's favorite is the waffle maker. Mine is our good knives.
What everyday gift are you most excited about? What do you have saved for 'someday'?

i can't wait to use it, but it's packed away until we have a house. we've only used like 3 things - our casual dishes, new salad bowls, and knife set - from our registry, and as much as i love my dishes, the knife set is really the best thing that's ever happened to my kitchen!!

We registered for a set of 18! We have about a set of 12 right now and I keep thinking about whether or not I should keep it...It is just soo expensive and I keep going back and forth...can't decide if its worth it to keep it

DH and I used ours for Easter dinner since we hosted my parents.
We'll probably use them for Christmas and Thanksgiving too. Whats the point in having it if you're never going to use it.

Re: Anybody use their good china and dishes yet?
I registered for but did not receive any fine china. Just as well since my dad said I should take my mom's. I am also going to take my mom's good crystal. I have my own silver service, that was a gift from my grandmother and great aunt as I was growing up. They sent it to me from Germany for b-days and Christmas. I'll probably give my mom's silver to my sister since I inherited my great-aunts silver.
When my mom was still alive, we used the good china, crystal and silver for every occassion, even birthdays. The china has some nicks in it, and some of the crystal is broken, but it is special to me.

I used it for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter!
It's a lot of work cleaning up afterwards but so worth it...It's only 3 times a year so not bad!

DH's stepmother gave us a set of 12 that was in her family and we haven't used it yet. We'll use it one of these days.

Re: Anybody use their good china and dishes yet?
We didn't regsister for any fine china because DH's aunt actually left us a full set-well she left it to his mom who gave it to us and its still in her basement because we have no room.
But its EXPENSIVE stuff and very similar to what DH wanted; classic white with a platinum band goign around the upper middle part of the plates and cups. So we're excited about using it when we have a house expecially because I bougth these fantastic chargers from LNT; brighy red and they look like glass but the suckers are PLASTIC! a friend of ours used them for Christmas an we wre all terrified of dropping one until one of the kids did and we realized there was no shattering!
12 for $20 cannot be beat!

I'm afraid to unpack it, because I have no place safe to keep it. But, I've been toying with the idea of just unpacking 2 placesettings and using them for dinner some night with just us. It would be funny to see DH's face!
I love all the stories about everyone's family mementoes!

Re: Anybody use their good china and dishes yet?
Ours is all packed away, just finished getting the two final pieces today, its sitting in my Mom's closet, as we are getting ready to build our new home and destroy this one. Its going to be a long haul, but I cant wait for it to happen. It will be a nice fresh start, we will be building a formal dining room, cant wait to use all the beautiful china in it one day, just not soon enough, patience is what I need now.............

Re: Anybody use their good china and dishes yet?
foodie here....
of course we have! on christmas eve and new years... likely other times too, but I can't recall
we have a complete setting for 12 (china and flatware).... but are still missing something important.....
our #$@$@ dining chairs!
they've been backordered since OCTOBER the latest estimated delivery date? late JUNE
while I'm a modern furniture *****, I periodically am reminded how annoying it is to purchase thing made in italy..... sigh....
but they're really pretty

Re: Anybody use their good china and dishes yet?
we actually didn't register for china. we did the fancy stemware, but skipped on the $$$ place settings. We got a really nice set of fancy dishes... they're white with a platinum band & they're on a sterling silver caddy...got a matching dessert one too that's absolutely adorable! decent brand too... the caddy's are set up in the china cabinet..because they're nice they appear fancy shmancy - and the best part?? THEY CAN GO IN THE DISHWASHER!!! these were enough for me...i have a HUGE family - i was brought up with those big oval kinda heavy duty cardboard chinette dishes! lol
anyways, they look nice,WAAAAAYY less expensive, and much easier maintenance...
