We just started puppy K last night, she is already better. Best $130 ever spent.

She said to practice your growl and growl at the puppy when it does something wrong. That is how its mom would correct it and it doesn't really understand the over used concept of No. I growled at her today when she was pulling on my pjs and she stopped and went into submissive position.

Also for under the feet, we put a bell on her until she learns not to be there.

This is great Michelle!!! I'm so happy for you guys!!!!!! We did a training course at Blue Ribbon in East Northport (in the back of the Pet Supplies Plus) with Abby when she was about 5 months old. It was Obedience 101 and it was priceless. We took her every week for 6 weeks I believe. It is the most effective training method I've seen implemented. She had to learn obedience in a class of 15 dogs, one was a Great Dane and his head/skull was the size of her entire body at the time!!!!!! There were also two really crazy pit bulls that were owned by a couple doing the class and she learned to deal with crazy asss dogs so now on walks she's FANTASTIC with all the other dogs who are nuts in our neighborhood lol. We have some nutty dogs!!

Colleen I super recommend doing a class with your pup. It will bring you so much closer together, you will learn to be his leader and his friend. In order for a puppy to not chew things, etc. you have to create a dominance over the dog, which is achieved through discipline and obedience. It's tough! Also because your dog's breed is very intelligent and instinctual, a hunting breed, so he needs a lot of exercise and stimulation to be happy. He is seriously one of the cutest freaking dogs I've ever seen!!!!!!!!

Thank Allegra, its great! We're doing it at Doggie U in Bay Shore. Also 6 weeks. It was great. There are 7 other dogs in the class. Most of them are little like her, but there are these two GIANT guard dogs. I don't know what they are but Candy could be there chew toy. But she was great. She greeted everyone, and I do mean everyone. Then when the teacher was using another dog as her example Candy was showing off... I can do it, I can do it, pick me, pick me. When in the center she was so good and attentive, the perfect model student. We worked on lead walking and sit (which she already knew.) I took her for a walk today using our new techniques and she was great. I walked her down a fairly busy road and she was really good. Next week we will do down, stay, and come other basic commands and I know one week we will learn place. If it goes well for the next five weeks then at 9 months we might start Agility 1.
