hate to say it-I grew up in Westbury and it is NOT a good area AT ALL!!!!!!!!!
i definitely think its gotten worse--BUT i mean its not like the HOOD---i mean the real crap areas like where i grew up. central islip, brentwood, parts of bay shore...or ghetto areas in like amityville.
i don't know but sometimes it cracks me up when ppl say ghetto---i wanna like drive them down some cracks areas in neighborhoods i know!
it almost seems like she's comparing it to some crack den!

I really really want to post that Westbury and Carle Place are 2 different world and 10% of Westbury is nice! the other 90 is NOT....but I dont want to get involved b/c i dont agree with the OP

I was thinking about this 'good neighborhood' thing earlier ... cause DH & I have been talking about starting to house hunt .... and were considering Levittown (which some people LOVE and some people claim isn't the best area).
I had him drive me around there this afternoon so I could see the area b/c I grew up in Brooklyn so most of these towns are very foreign to me.
I grew up with diversity ... I think its a good thing .... I think it helped make me the person I am. I think life would be very boring if everyone was lily white and waspy!
(Not that Levittown is 'diverse' .... just saying, why wouldn't I want my kids to have a neighborhood where they could get to know all different kinds of people)

oh yeah Carle Place is DEF different from Westbury--w/o a doubt
funny enough i passed don juan's across from the source where those 4 ppl got shot---and they had some kind of command center set up in a mobile unit with nassau police. so crazy how the area has gotten worse

New Cassel is like the Ghetto to LI people, I wont even drive thru NC at all. But then again I grew up in the nice part so on that. I wouldnt call it the ghetto just b/c I wont drive thru it.
But, there is only a 6 by 6 block radius that is good these days...most of the houses are crack houses that used to be beautiful houses...its just going down slowly. But the area the Macaroni Grill is actually considered Garden City-I used to work at the Loews right there and the town for the address was GC...dont know why ...but who knows that except for me
Its just funny-in one sense I felt bad but if someone ever said anythin to me to leave after I had gotten up i would have taken my $1 and eaten it

I truly think it depends on the way you are raised. DH will NEVER EVER live in Patchogue...b/c he grew up in froo froo New England Village in Holbrook...me I can live anywhere I didnt have no special life with marble floors and shiit, we had formica and linoleum

That's definitely true .... if you were raised in a froo froo hoity toity environment, then you probably can't imagine living in anything else ...
