DH and I are planning on taking a trip to Florida in May to visit the IL's. We're thinking of taking a side trip for a few days to celebrate our anniversary, just not sure where to go. (NOT Disney or South Beach...that much we know!)
Any suggestions? We were thinking of the Keys, but not sure if there is enough to do there for 4 days?

My parents went there for my mothers 50th and said it was absolutely beautiful. And very relaxing!

that's what i've heard! and it's relatively 'unknown' so i would imagine its really peaceful! DH and i always think about going there when we go to see my family.

I lived the first 24 yrs of my life in Florida. I lived in Jacksonville. but about 30 minutes from Jacksonville there is ST. Augustine. Its historic district. There are beautiful beaches, shops, museums, historic tours. etc. There is alot to there. I would check that out

They loved it. Spent the days relaxing on the beach. They went looking for shells (and got really beautiful ones--my mother gave them to me for the sand ceremony). They were planning on going back but then I got married!!

DH and I have been trying to get to Sanibel Island. Personally, I think Sanibel is better than the Keys. It's so gorgeous!!! The water is like crystal clear and the sand is so soft! I haven't been there in over 10 years, but I hear it's still just as beautiful! If you google it, you'll be able to find more info and hotels. Daytona is also nice. It's not as nice as Sanibel, but it's fun. We went on our HM to Disney and we went to Daytona before we came back. We stayed at the Bahama House. That was cool. Right on the beach, gorgeous rooms. We walked the beach at 2am with all the stars in the sky. It was so romantic. There's pics of that in my review if you're interested. If you want FM for more Daytona info like prices and what not. HTH!!

I've been to Florida many times, and love to do the day/morning trips.
I recommend: Viscaya Gardens Monkey Jungle Seaworld (not sure of the exact name of this) These are all in Miami

Seaworld is in orlando- do you mean Busch Gardens in Tampa maybe?
I recommend Tampa- I went there for a business trip and loved it

I went to Panama City Beach one year with my girlfriend. I liked it alot, it wasn't too crazy, and there was alot to do.

Check out the area nest sarasota - st. petersburg is a nice town - and the islands just off the coast of sarasota are great. long boat key, siesta key, etc... my ILs live in sarasota and when we went to visit they took us all over, the area is great.
