anyone change their name with SS through the mail??
anyone change their name with SS through the mail?? I just read online that this is a possibility, but you have to mail all of your important documents... anyone do this??

I did. I think I mailed in my old SS card along with my Passport.

I would NOT do it through the mail because I would not mail my documents. In the past I have had too many instances where they 'never received things from me' or lost them.
My DH took all the documents there for me on his way home from a night shift. I had him make sure he brought home originals & a receipt from them that they received them.

I didn't know you can do that. I tried but they told me that I had to bring in my orginal marriage license. So I went down and I was only there 1/2 hr and got my card in less then 2 weeks.
