Anyone else domestically challenged?

Anyone else out there not exactly housewife material? I'm definetly not into the cleaning. I don't mind cooking too much except I only know how to make like 3 things! I feel bad about eating out so much but how many times can you eat chicken.

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

Yes! DH is the domestic diva! He does all the cleaning and tidying. He vacuums almost daily. Cleans the bathrooms and makes the bed. I still cook, though. DH hasn't mastered that area yet.

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I'm definitely not housewife material. I wish I was though. I'm bad with keeping up with the cleaning, laundry, and I don't cook. I hate to cook, and I only know how to make a few things. Plus, I'm very picky and don't like very much, so when I do cook for my DH I don't eat it anyway. I really like chicken, but I can't prepare it, and then eat it. It just grosses me out! I wish I could do more though! (So does my DH )

My DH doesn't clean, cook, or do laundry... so it's all up to me, with taking care of a baby, and working FT. I can't do it all! My DH works 2 jobs, so he's hardly home!

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I am NOT domesticated at all. I hate l cleaning and cooking. My DH is not much better but he does clean more than me. I wish I was one of those people who spend hours cleaning their houses.

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I don't mind cooking, but I'm learning very slowly, so I rotate between like 7 dinner options, with eating out thrown in between, to break the week up.

As far as cleaning, I'm terrible! I'm kind of sloppy, and it drives me nuts that things are always a mess, but I'm the type of person who says, 'oh, i'll put that away later' I keep telling myself I'm gonna get better....

It doesn't help that DH is exactly like me! He REALLY doesn't cook though.

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

i am! i hate cleaning! me and dh are both sloppy. so it is always a chore to clean up. i enjoy cooking though. i think i just have to get organized and develop a routine. it does not help that we are living in such a small apartment. i think once we get a house it will be better, I hope!

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I am definitely not house broken I clean, but I stop when I get tired. I realize that my biggest problem is I wait until it gets messy to clean, instead of keeping it clean, but whatever. And I don't cook. I know how to - I learned when I was about 11 and those few who've actually tasted my food usually say its good, but I HATE doing it, so I don't.

Funny story: this weekend we were at a christening party for DH's niece...it was simple, in a back yard, food done by the family. At the end of the party we all grabbed leftovers to take home and my FIL said 'now you have one night where you don't have to cook.' The look on his IL's face when I told him I don't cook, and that his SON did the cooking was PRICELESS (think: old school machismo who believes women should be barefoot and pregnant meets loud mouthed, independent, career woman who wouldn't be caught dead in an apron)

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I am not a good housewife at all, but luckily for me by husband is!!!

He does all the food shopping, cooking and laundry. I do the cleaning (when I find time) and he usually helps me with that as well.

He's great!!!!

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

I am!! I hate cooking also and now I feel better after reading that some of you ladies don't like it either! My hubby does most of the cooking and food shopping.
I try to clean - but I'm not a big fan of that either!

Re: Anyone else domestically challenged?

DH is a good cook, and I'm trying to learn. I made a delicious meatloaf this week, so I'm quite proud of myself!

This is a quote from DH: 'Chicken nuggets and mac 'n cheese is not a meal!'

I still have a lot to learn...
