We had more than one guest stiff us at the wedding...not even an empty 'Congratulations on your Marriage 'card.I dont mind not getting a gift b/c my gift was my DH and having all of our friends and family celebrating with us, but one of the 'stiffers' had the nerve to be all over DH at the reception!
Anyone else get 'stiffed' or have a nutty guest experience?

I was stiffed by 2 guests that showed up and by DH's cousin who said was coming and then never came. He also told DH's mother tell Mike I am sorry and I will cover my plate. Never happened. The 2 that showed up were my bosses too. One of them keeps telling me he owes me my wedding present but we have been married for almost 2 months now and still no present.

That really stinks!
I guess we were really lucky! we didn't get stiffed....we had some not so generous gifts from certian people. But thats not the point. We had a wonderful wedding and loved all of our guests for coming.

YES... my brother (groomsman) and DH's brother (best man) did NOT give a gift or even a card!!! i couldn't believe it. i know they don't have tons of money, so any amount would have been fine---, but not even a CARD on your sibling's wedding day???? i was upset to say the least.

Yeah, we were stiffed by the following:
1) DH's friend who is a cop and got called into work the day of our wedding. Understandable no show, but no card.
2) DH's other friend who just never showed up or called to say why he didn't come. (DH's BM was soooooo pissed b/c this guy had been really good friends with them in college and had told everyone he'd be there.) So no show, no card, no call. NO FRIEND!
3) My friend from SC who told me the day before the wedding that his wife wouldn't be joining him b/c they couldn't afford it. Okay, but he drove up and I'm assuming they could have driven together and shared a hotel room. His job pays for their apartment so this was a pretty lame excuse. No card from them either.
4) My other friend who didn't give a card - not sure what her excuse is!
5) Two of our co-workers who RSVP'd that they'd come but told me two days before the wedding that she was asked to be godmother and had to drive to PA for those events. Was she just asked to be godmother two days before? I'm guessing not. No show, no card from them either.
I'm not bothered by not getting gifts from these people, but the ones who no-showed and then couldn't even send a 'congrats' card really annoy me. I guess technically they have a year. Oh well!

Yes one of my husband longtime friends who get this even lived with us for over two years and never gave us a dime for even shampoo or rent or anything. He showed up at the wedding and didnt even wish us well or give us a card, come on girls when its all said and done its really the thought that counts, so if you dont have much money dont come to the wedding or come to the wedding and go out of your way just to get something little along with a card, thats all. I mean come on, first of all, I couldnt imaging doing something like that, second of all, I would be totally embarrassed and third of all we took him out to dinner and paid for almost everything for him like he was one of our kids for over two years, he is a year older then me. He never was even going to move out, my poor husband had to give his six months notice then he never moves then finally when the sh.....t hits the fan, because I had it with him taking such advantage I layed down the law with FH. Then when he left he ran to our friends and told them that we threw him out, what nerve, he was lucky I invited him at all, he is a pick or crap. Since then I refuse to deal with him, I will say hello and thats it, but we dont associate with him anymore, thank god my husband had it with him some people are just messed up in general for life. ......

Oh and I might also note, my crazy cousin and her husband, what nerve, no show at the wedding, no call, no gift, she is to miss country club to deal the world, so add them to the list, so glad they didnt come.......thats it, otherwise everyone else did the right thing and then some....

The Best Man, A groomsman and a friend of DH's did not give us anything. Not even a card. I don't get people.

a friend of mine made me a song...he wrote it, sang it & recorded it and put it in with his card at the wedding. If people can't afford to give a gift they could always do something meaningful....that song meant so much more than the monetary gift he gave. I listen to it everyday !

Several - and if we didn't get stiffed, some people gave us not so generous gifts (think 30 for a family of 5!!!)

Yes two couples didnt make it into NY b/c they missed their flight from Canada And called FH's parents the morning of our wedding to tell them they cant make it. We already payed for their seats and everything. With that they never called us back nor FH parents back and never sent a gift. Thats so rude!

We sure did! By a cousin of mine and an Aunt of mine.. The aunt never sent her card. She said she 'forgot it' and my cousin sent me a card after the fact but still....

yeah we got some really WEIRDO gifts....whcih in the same way was us being stiffed....there were a couple people who stiffed us but have been in touch for our address to mail it to us---we'll see if it ever gets to us... lots of people stiffed us by giving something like $200 for a family of 6...geez!!! and we have always been SOOOO generous to them! really through us both for a loop i'll tell ya...

more than a few of DH's cousins (grown ups...not kids)...i said i wouldn't have cared if they didn't give a gift but at least write a freakin' card...i mean i gave away BLANK NOTE CARDS as the favors..they could've taken one & dropped it in the box at the wedding...i am sending Thank you cards to them anyway since they all were OOTers and traveled to come..and maybe it'll remind them that they didn't even give us a freakin card! DH says they still have a year to send us something...i told him i won't hold my breathe! haha

We were stiffed BIG time by 3 people on my husbands side. Not even a card!!!!! I never knew weddings were an I owe you sorta thing these days.My husband is VERY calm, and even he was shocked. So therefore you don't get a Thank You!!!!!

Yep a bunch of people didn't give us anything. I understand if they couldn't afford anything, but at least they could have given us a card. I just don't understand some people.

i got stiffed by a bunch of people, and not even a card from two of my bm's. would you give a gift at someones wedding if they did not even give you a card at yours?
