Anyone else hate writing the thank you notes???

No, that's not what I meant.

Guests/family/friends have a year to give a wedding gift.

Brides/Grooms don't have a year to send a thank you.

TY's should always be sent as soon as possible after receiving the gift. On LI, it takes a couple of months b/c we wait for proofs, pick a picture, etc.

Did I misunderstand your post - did you say a year to send thank yous?

I misunderstood you...
But for some reason I still thought you had a long period of tiem for the TYs
Most Ty's I have gotten have been in the 3-6 month range!
But my thought is as long as I get them out I am doing well!

Better late then never!!! LOL. We went to a engagement party 2 years ago and gave the bride and groom an awesome gift. Never got a thank you!

its such a pain for me that I havent even picked out my thank you cards yet. Ive had my proofs for oh about 2 months now... Im a little slow.

DH and I wrote them together. I wrote the text for my family and friends which DH signed his name at the bottom. However, DH wrote the text for his own family and friend which I signed my first name at the bottom. I used clear address labels from our wedding invitations for our thank you card envelopes. Together we wrote about 200 cards as many guests did not attend our big day but sent gifts and many of our vendors did an amazing job. We spent 1 week writing them, about 20 a night.

We wrote them together as a husband and wife team. We work very well together as a team because that is what marriage is about. Team work!

DH and I hate doing them! I feel like I've become the thank you note dictator b/c every night we're actually home, I make us sit down and write at least 5 each. I get them done faster than Brad, so I'll usually write 8 for each of his 5. I've gotten to the point where they are sounding so generic, but there are just so many ways we can thank someone for giving us a check and sharing our day with us!

I know - i'm grateful & all, but this is a pain..

DH wants me to wait so we can write them together - but he works nights, and i work normal 9-5, so its never gonna happen.. i was just churning a few out today..

i'm trying to save his friends & family for him to do, but i think i'll just end up writing them for him to get them out! happy happy joy joy!

ahhh the fun of the newleywed :)

This is one aspect of wedding plannng that I do not miss at all ....

Good luck ladies - just know that once they are done and your pics are chosen you are done with wedding stuff. It's one more thing you will feel good about crossing off of that list!

I was very good - wrote all tys myself (we had 165 guests) and I tried to write something personal in each. I got them out 3 mos from our wedding day because my inlaws were giving us pressure to send them out.

lol i don't feel so bad then. I just started this weekend.
It did take us a month to get our thank you's in the first place because Patken F'ed up and never called us to let us know they were in!!! i'm aiming to get them out by this weekend.

I just don't want them hanging over my head so I have been getting them out as fast as possible. As soon as we received a gift and opened it, the note is immediately done. Some sound generic; some sound loopy and others just really silly.

Also a glass of wine helps the process...

I sent mine out 2 weeks ago. I started writing something personal in the beginning but by the 20th thank you everything got generic and written as fast as I could possibly write. I just wanted to be done with them. I felt like that was the final closure of all the wedding stuff.

I just picked up my thank you's from the photographer last night!!!!!

I am not looking foward to filling out 90 of them!

It's been over 3 months! and I haven't even begun!o
