I finally went to the dermo for the bumps all over the tops of my arms and I have KP which are little ingrown hairs. Does anyone else have this and if so what did the doc prescribe you??

I used to do the same and leave little scabs all over my arms. Exfoliating didnt do a thing for me. She prescribed me Finacea to put on twice a day. Ive only been putting it on once a day cause Im lazy but I think its working. She also said they do this in office procedure called vibradermabrasion that could help. I hate it!!! I guess it could be worse right?

DermaDoctor makes a really great product called KP Duty. A moisturizer with a chemical exfoliant (saylicic acid, gylcolic acids, etc) will help dissolve the dead skin around the hair follicles.

Wow! Thanks Im gonna look into this and see if the same ingredients are in the prescribed meds.

Re: Anyone else have keratosis pilaris??
I was diagnosed w/ this too a few years ago- I absolutely hate it!!! damn genetics!!! lol
I was also prescribed Finacea- I wasn't very diligent w/ putting it on- I should go back to the dermatologist and get another prescription. One thing that helps (which isn't good for you) is getting some sun.....I had read up on this when I was first diagnosed and I found out that KP is most prevalent in cold months or climates. Which is why when we first start wearing short sleeves in spring, its most noticeable/annoying. I go tanning occassionally (I know its bad for me!!) but it makes me feel better about the KP. thanks for posting this, it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who has it!!

I do. I use a moisturizer w/ a chemical exfoliant in it and it works wonders.
Add me to the list . My derm calls it my “chicken skin”, aka keratosis pilaris. I find being in the sun and in the water helps. I used the cream for about 2 months but found it way too greasy and thick for me.

Nope I was prescribed lac-hydrin, the generic name is ammonium lactate.
