Anyone else suffer from Migraines?

I get them sooo bad, I finally went to the Dr. Today and he gave me a med. called Maxalt-MLT 10... It took the edge off but I'm allowed to take a second one after 2 hrs, which it looks like I'm going to since it didn't go away Anyone else? And what do you do for them, it really stinks! I can't even function

I have had them for as long as I can remember. I have learned what triggers them and try to avoid such triggers. When I getting one I take Excedrin migraine at the first sign of one. When I get a full blown one all I can si is lay still in a quiet dark room. The only time I didn't get them was when I was pregnant.

Sorry you don't feel well Heather. Either Maxalt or Imitrex help me. You should probably take the second one if you are not completely better after the first.

Also, figure out if you have triggers to migraines. I learned that red wine does it for me, as well as extreme stress. And take the meds once you feel it coming on-the longer you wait, the less effective it will be (and I know that insurance is a PITA when it comes to covering migraine meds)

Feel better

thanks girls. I think it might be related to my period. the last few months I get these horrible migraines, that i nver ever got before. I'm on the pill, could that have something to do with it??

i've had them since I was a kid...if i let them go full blown, I end up vomiting . I used to be the kid who threw up all the time at school because having a headache wasn't a reason to be allowed to go home.

i only use Exedrin migraine, but i have to take it at the very first sign of my migraines, otherwise it's too late. before my head even starts to hurt, the muscles on the left side of my neck tighten up, and then I know it's coming. I carry a bottle aroudn with me everywhere.

Do you have warning signs? the earlier you catch it, usually the better chances you have of knocking them out.

so far its only been a few times, that i've actually gotten them to the poin that i can't do anything so I really haven't watched for signs before hand.. now I will, but everytime its when I have my period. And if I remember right its the last few days of it

I think you can't take excedrin when you have your period right? I think it has asprin in it

Re: Anyone else suffer from Migraines?

I've had migraines for a few years now. My neurologist has tried many different medications...Imitrex shots and pills, a medication that reduces your blood pressure but has a side effect of helping with migraines, Maxalt, and another one that begins with an A. Finally, I told him enough was enough and I was going to stick with my Excedrin Migraine. He's against me taking the Excedrin Migraine, but it's the ONLY thing that works for me.

Hope you feel better soon!

I started with Migraines really bad about 2 and a 1/2 years ago when I was under a lot of stress with working full time and going to school for my Masters full time -- I also take Relpax when I feel one coming on. I too always make sure I have a pill on me at all times -- they are my saving grace.

lately I've had so many migraines Hoping it';s just the stress of a new job and my period last week.

They can drive you nuts!!

I have gotten them for about 3 years now, mine arent just headaches though they are sinus headaches...and if I dont catch them right away i just cant function. When I say function, I mean sun light hurts, walking hurts, breathing hurts...its horrible.

I take aleve, if that doesnt work I take exedrin.

Most of the time nothing works and I just take a nap....its the only thing that relieves even some of the pain
