totally scary what the average american eats...... 10% of average person's calories comes from soda, with another 10% from soybean oil

5 g a day of transfats raises heart disease risk by 25%... 5grams is what you would find in a small order of fries.....

the stats on this show are frightening

I'm a vegetarian, so I eat pretty healthy in that area, but I LOVE my bad food! I am a sucker when it comes to Micky D's fries!!!! And I LOVE my Ranch Doritos!!!

Yah, watching those shoes really get you to think.....but then again, there is NO way I am able to watch what I eat every day of my life.....I eat whatever I crave.....BAD? Probably.....but it puts a smile on my face!!!!!

I have to say though, DH won't eat any burgers or chicken nuggets from Micky D's after watching that one documentary.....

wow, another startling stat......

if every american were to actually EAT the 5 servings a day of fruits and veggies, they COULDN'T..... becuase we don't have nearly enough veggies. Then they hinted to WHY...

the gov't subsidizes corn and soybean growers to the sum of over $2 billion a year.....
meanwhile, other crops, such as normal fruits and veggies (ex. apples) do not qualify for any subsidies, since they are designated as 'specialty crops'.

Good news, this may change this year. Congress is about to vote on the farm bill, and may remove the 'specialty crop designator' for most fruits and veggies. but apples will still only receive 300 million, while corn and soybeans still get billions.....

sigh..........
