Anyone else's DH a hunter???

Tomorrow is opening day, or whatever they call it, so DH left me at 5:30 this morning to go upstate with his cousin. I think they're coming back on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'd better get used to this since this will be an every-year event! It kinda stinks cuz he gets NO reception up there, so we really can't even talk! Blah!

Anyone else's hubby an avid hunter like mine?!

Yeah maybe down the line when we've been married a few years I will start to look at it that way, but not right now! Now, I miss him! I joke with him that we need to plan when our babies will be due b/c they cannot be due during hunting season! His dad almost missed his birth b/c he was upstate hunting and no one could reach him! I would die if that happened to me!

OMG YES!!! We actually live upstate now. Well that is where DH is from. He has been up every morning for the last month at 4am to go Bow hunting (like some robin hood style) and then tomorrow is riffle. Tonight we have dinner with some teachers I work with and all he keeps saying is we cant stay late I have to be up early. Um not my problem. I cant stand that part the other waking up early is ok b/c I sleep!

LOL yeah bow hunting, my DH does that too! I call him Robin Hood also! Too funny! He has an insane # of guns in the house, it's crazy! He wants to take me to the range so I know how to shoot them, God forbid of anything... I am considering it...

Dh doesn't hunt, but one of our closest friends does and he's going up for opening weekend too, so we have custody of his FW. LOL

She called me yesterday and said 'can I sleep over on Friday night? Fh is going hunting!' This happened last year too..she sleeps over whenever he's hunting and complains that she can't get in touch with him because of the bad cell service up there.

Not sure where they all go hunting but we live upstate and DH hunts. I make sure he has his phone un just incase. Most places now really do have servise just so you know!

Well I know my DH won't bring his cell with him out into the 'jungle' as I call it, unless he does but turns it on silent, not totally sure. But the cabin where they stay, his uncle's house, is in the boonies up by Watkins Glen I think, and he gets no reception at all. The only times he calls me are when they go into town.

Re: Anyone else's DH a hunter???

Yes, my DH is a big time hunter! He has been going up every weekend since the start of bow season in early October. He will be upstate all week since this is opening week for rifle. At least it doesn't fall the same week as Thanksgiving, as it has the past several years. Then he takes a trip after our season ends, with his father for over a week to Alabama, which they have done now for the past several years. I grew up in a family of hunters, so I get the whole thing. He is worse than my father ever was though...somewhat obsessed with it. But, I don't really mind so much because he could be out doing worse things. He used to tease me that someday I was going to count the days until he goes to be rid of him for awhile.

Here was the cake topper I surprised him with for the wedding. He loved it! Everyone got a kick out of it...the men were especially hysterical!

ETA: I can't get the picture to post, but it's in my album if anyone wants to see.

YESSS Marisa...I totally understand. Let's see if it's not skeet shooting, it's shooting at the gun club, if its not that, he's turkey hunting (missed it this yr b/c of the wedding) he wanted to go hunting this weekend with my cousin but we had plans so he had to say no.
