this girl at work is doing it & honestly i agree with Lauren. It is not a safe way to lose weight. Teh only way to lose it is portion control & excercise. Alli u have to take a pill before each meal & if u eat fats or oils girl u r in the bathroom & u better be right near a bathroom. I also dont think its safe because your body needs a certain amoutn of oils & fats. It just doesnt seem safe to me at all. Plus u look beautiful to me.

thanks ladies - but unfortunately I have gained more than the usual newlywed 9 since my wedding - more like double it - I have been watching what Ive been eating & exercising for 2 1/2 months now & have dropped 2 lbs. I need something to really kick start my metabolism or something - I am just so sick about it b/c I have VERY few things that I fit into now & I cannot afford another whole new wardrobe

What are you eating? Maybe you need to change your excercise routine? Sometimes U hav eto switch things up.

I just always think that even if you lose with pills, once you go off them you gain again.

I did so well on Weight Watchers Online. It's the best 'non-diet' ever!

You look gorgeous and don't need pills!

when I had initially gotten back into working out a few years ago and was 'overweight' I had been taking xenadrine & just noticed a nice gradual improvement in my whole physique as well as my energy level. but once I stopped working out that's when the weight slowly crept back up on me. I realize that working out is going to have to be a lifetime committment for me - & not just for a few months here & there. But I hate that I am pretty good w/ my meals & 'snacks' & allow myself one cheat day a week, and am exercising now 3-4 days a week, still exhausted ALL the time, and barely losing any weight.

aww I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from Laurie. I DEF have a soft spot for just about ANYONE with weight issues... as I've had them pretty much my entire life... even when I was a skinny bean pole teenager!!!

I had a friend on Alli... it's kinda like the Meridian diet (pretty much the prescription version).... it blocks 2/3rd of your fat intake so you can eat the same and it will 'effect' you less. You def can have 'oily stools' and it can happen right after you eat fatty foods. You are supposed to still eat properly while on it... it's not mean to eat like a big mac daily and think it's OK (not that you would.... but for anyone reading this). I used to work for a diet doctor (and shrink) so that's where i get a lot of info from with diet pills. Personally I don't think she did it long enough to see if it worked. As far as from working at that dr office... I def saw there was a weight loss of about 1 to 3 lbs per week on meridian. But there ARE those side effects that most likely can be unpleasant.

I'm not too big on taking pills to lose weight... though I can't lie... I def have done that in the past. Most just make your heart nuts and can potentially cause issues later on.

Have you thought about trying weight watchers? that's a really great diet that def works... and imho it's the most healthy diet really out there... it's just sooo well balanced if you do it properly.

also, what about Jenny craig? If you are just looking to lose 18 or so lbs you can do that in about 2 months doing Jenny Craig... combined with some exercise maybe even less if you really work your hiney off!!!! I've done Jenny Craig and the food is pretty good. MUCH MUCH better than nutrisystem (which i've also done... and Zone Chef diets too which is very gourmet and VERY expensive). Jenny Craig is just easier than WW because you don't have to PLAN every single thing...and it still changes views of portion control and it gets your body used to smaller portions... so in the long run it does work too.

i've done many other diets as well. If you have any questions FM me!!

But for the record... I think you look GREAT!!! But I know that doens't mean anything to you.... it's all how YOU feel about yourself and how you see yourself. I totally understand the clothes factor. I DEF know what it's like to not want to buy new clothes and to grow out of older clothes. But oh the feeling once you get back into them!!!!

also maybe a personal trainer at a gym?? they will know just how to switch things up for when your body gets used to the same routine and stops losing the weight it would have normally lost in the past.

I steer shy of any weight loss drugs after one very bad experience with metabolife and seeing several friends hospitalized for ulcers from other drugs. There is nothing safe about any of them and I would find another way.

I think you need to change your workout & i think u need to look at what your menu is . Keep a journal for a week & see what possibly you are doing wrong. It could alos be because you are so tired. Sometimes it may be better to have 2/3 really great hard workouts then 4 not so great.

I have been on Nutrisystem a few times & had ok results w/ them. I did WW when I was like 19-20 & cant really remember how well or not I did with them. I have not tried Jenny Craig yet - is it expensive?

As far as a personal trainer too - I would love to do that I just cant afford it

My cousin (who will be 25 next week) was on Alli for a few months. She is only 4'10 and was creeping up towards 175 lbs (at that height, that's a lot) -- she lost 40 lbs in a few months but gained back something like 35 as soon as she went off it.

Jenny Craig is expensive over $100 a week. And you still need to buy your fruits & veggies. The food is really good though!!

Nutrasystem is less... but the food is also not very good.

WW is the best bet to go!!! I lost 40 pounds on WW. You can eat real food just in moderation!!

I am with you!!! I have gained some weight since the wedding and I am working my but off!!! And it is just not coming off!!!

I am hopeful that one of these days, I will have a big weight loss!!

ww has been TOTALLY revamped. it's more fun now!!! and more food and points too. plus they added activity points and weekly points. its crazy.

i think jenny craig is a little expensive... but not as much as at PT would be at a gym. It's probably about 85 to 100 per week... then you just buy fruits and veggies... which isn't that bad. ther's NO OTHER GROCERY shopping required. so that's $13 or $14 a day... plus fruit and veggies. It's not that bad in the scheme of things (I think)... also for me it was thinking in terms of... if this works how much is it worth?? You know... if i spent a few hundred a month and it worked versus spending nothing or less and it was a dead end diet that i failed at ...... and for me there's no real messing up Jenny Craig bc it's all given to you.
also if you do jenny online it's more expensive than the instores (jenny center?) because they mail you the food with dry ice all packaged up.

I have no idea if there's even a Jenny center anywhere near me

I will have to look that up, but I have a gut feeling I would have to buy it online...grrr...sometimes I really hate living upstate - nothing around when I really need it!

I have tried Alli....and DO NOT DO IT!!!!!! I generally eat pretty good and I still had the nasty side effects just from having a bit of Terryaki sauce.....the side effects are as bad or maybe even worse then what they describe.

After that I decided to try WW and lost 30lbs doing it and have kept it off for 2+ years now.

My best friend who is not at all overweight tried it. After a week she woke up one morning and had 'anal leakage' all over her $1000 sheets. She did not eat anything she wasn't supposed to. IMO there is no amount of weight loss that is worth me losing control of my bowels for.
