& if so did you see good results? any side effects you noticed??
Im thinking of trying this but wanted to get some feedback before I do.

My best friend who is not at all overweight tried it. After a week she woke up one morning and had 'anal leakage' all over her $1000 sheets. She did not eat anything she wasn't supposed to. IMO there is no amount of weight loss that is worth me losing control of my bowels for.
ahh I forgot about the leakage... that was another side effect of the Meridia too.

thanks ladies - but unfortunately I have gained more than the usual newlywed 9 since my wedding - more like double it - I have been watching what Ive been eating & exercising for 2 1/2 months now & have dropped 2 lbs. I need something to really kick start my metabolism or something - I am just so sick about it b/c I have VERY few things that I fit into now & I cannot afford another whole new wardrobe
aww I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from Laurie. I DEF have a soft spot for just about ANYONE with weight issues... as I've had them pretty much my entire life... even when I was a skinny bean pole teenager!!!
I had a friend on Alli... it's kinda like the Meridian diet (pretty much the prescription version).... it blocks 2/3rd of your fat intake so you can eat the same and it will 'effect' you less. You def can have 'oily stools' and it can happen right after you eat fatty foods. You are supposed to still eat properly while on it... it's not mean to eat like a big mac daily and think it's OK (not that you would.... but for anyone reading this). I used to work for a diet doctor (and shrink) so that's where i get a lot of info from with diet pills.
I'm not too big on taking pills to lose weight... though I can't lie... I def have done that in the past. Most just make your heart nuts and can potentially cause issues later on.
Have you thought about trying weight watchers? that's a really great diet that def works... and imho it's the most healthy diet really out there... it's just sooo well balanced if you do it properly.
also, what about Jenny craig? If you are just looking to lose 18 or so lbs you can do that in about 2 months doing Jenny Craig... combined with some exercise maybe even less if you really work your hiney off!!!! I've done Jenny Craig and the food is pretty good. MUCH MUCH better than nutrisystem (which i've also done... and Zone Chef diets too which is very gourmet and VERY expensive). Jenny Craig is just easier than WW because you don't have to PLAN every single thing...and it still changes views of portion control and it gets your body used to smaller portions... so in the long run it does work too.
i've done many other diets as well. If you have any questions FM me!!
But for the record... I think you look GREAT!!! But I know that doens't mean anything to you.... it's all how YOU feel about yourself and how you see yourself. I totally understand the clothes factor. I DEF know what it's like to not want to buy new clothes and to grow out of older clothes. But oh the feeling once you get back into them!!!!
I have been on Nutrisystem a few times & had ok results w/ them. I did WW when I was like 19-20 & cant really remember how well or not I did with them. I have not tried Jenny Craig yet - is it expensive?
As far as a personal trainer too - I would love to do that I just cant afford it
ww has been TOTALLY revamped. it's more fun now!!! and more food and points too. plus they added activity points and weekly points. its crazy.
i think jenny craig is a little expensive... but not as much as at PT would be at a gym. It's probably about 85 to 100 per week... then you just buy fruits and veggies... which isn't that bad. ther's NO OTHER GROCERY shopping required. so that's $13 or $14 a day... plus fruit and veggies. It's not that bad in the scheme of things (I think)... also for me it was thinking in terms of... if this works how much is it worth?? You know... if i spent a few hundred a month and it worked versus spending nothing or less and it was a dead end diet that i failed at ...... and for me there's no real messing up Jenny Craig bc it's all given to you. also if you do jenny online it's more expensive than the instores (jenny center?) because they mail you the food with dry ice all packaged up.
I have no idea if there's even a Jenny center anywhere near me
I will have to look that up, but I have a gut feeling I would have to buy it online...grrr...sometimes I really hate living upstate - nothing around when I really need it!
i did the online one... with my work hours, it was just the only option for me. It was a little more... I used to order a month or you can also do 2 weeks worth on the time... that should save you in shipping bc your only shipping all at once or twice a month.
i think you can plug your zip in the website.
i do like WW too. Those are my 2 favorites!!

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
i have to tell you that i think it's a horrible idea. first of all, two words: 'oily stools'...or wait 'anal leakage'... like, ew.
you're beautiful, whether you've gained weight or not! that being said, i completely relate to anyone that has issues with their weight because i gained considerable weight after being assaulted in HS by an ex boyfriend... i struggled (and honestly, still do)... i feel your frustration. but don't let your current frustration make you do something as rash as take some pill that will only delay the inevitable truth. and worse, you'll most likely gain it back (and probably plus) as soon as you stop taking it. then you'll just have endured some bizarre poo poo issue, for really, no reason at all!
you may need to retrain yourself in terms of diet, relearn some new menu options, add a new workout training behavior... it's all within your reach, maybe you just need some help to access it. i HIGHLY recommend weight watchers. for learning new techniques for eating. i lost 30 lbs on WW. it's changed my way of life. it's not a diet. so i recommend something like that. i also recommend taking a new class at a local gym, if you have the money, splurge on a trainer (the trainer doesn't have to be one or two times a week) i can't afford that. but i hired a trainer to give me two workouts and many options to do on my own (both at a gym and at home)...
you can do it! i don't normally tell people i don't know my opinion, but please don't do alli. you're too beautiful for such a drastic option.

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
I did try it about a year ago and while I thought I was eating good... my booty didnt think so if you catch my drift...
I just wasnt for me... My dad was on Meridia and had virtually the same problem... I think there are others to help boost weight loss naturally.. good luck with whatever way you choose.

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
Laurie, I have got to chime in here and add my two cents.
First of all, I just saw pictures of you at TWOTY and anyone who could rock that foxy dress does NOT NEED TO TAKE DIET PILLS.
Second of all, if you are truly uncomfortable with your weight, there are truly better ways to go about it. A diet pill is NEVER the be all, end all answer. PERIOD. It is like putting a bandaid over a gunshot wound. It will help you lose weight only as long as you take it, and once you stop taking it you will gain it all back. Nevermind the terrible effect it has on other aspects of your health - your heart, your mental well being, etc. Many women will become addicted to these pills and it will ruin them.
Third of all, true to what MANY women above have said, Alli causes ANAL LEAKAGE. That means you will have CRAP coming OUT OF YOUR BUTT at any time. To me, as much as I would want to lose weight, I would NEVER take something that would cause my @ss to LEAK. It's just gross, not to mention unhealthy, unsanitary, unSEXY.
I feel for you because from what you wrote above, it seems as if you are truly unhappy with your body, and that is a shame because you are a gorgeous woman. I think that you should really consider continuing to fix your body by healthy means - exercise, portion control, diet. And when I say 'healthy means' - don't go overboard. Live a healthy lifestyle but don't make it your entire life.
You have a DH who LOVES you for who you are and I am sure that he would rather have you as you are today than have you 10 lbs lighter with crap coming out of your @ss, unhealthy and miserable. I am sure of it!

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
I know someone who did and the side effects were awful. Also I just saw a Dr. Oz episode the other day talking about how bad weight loss drugs (especially this one) is for you. So please dont! This stuff worries me
ETA: I think you are so beautiful and do not need to lose weight but if you feel like you need to and want to then maybe you can try a healthy cleansing diet to jump start your metabolism?

I think you mean Xenical not Meridia. Meridia is also a 'diet' pill, but isnt a fat blocker.

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
Honestly the weight will come off, it takes time. I weighed the most I ever did after the honeymoon. It took me 6 months to start getting it off and I eat really well and work out a lot. My pants were so tight when I got back to work it was unreal, I didn't think I could possibly gain that much so quickly but I did. It's been 8 months since the wedding and I still have about 3-4lbs to go before I'm closer to my before the wedding weight. Just don't stress or do anything drastic. Once life gets back to normal the pounds will come off.
And I agree with everyone else you look amazing!!

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
I have never used Alli but I know three people who used it. Two of those people got sick and had 'accidents' any time they ate something semi bad for you and then gave up and one person lost 25 lbs and actually kept it off. I think in the end the side effects are not worth it.... What works for one person usually winds up backfiring for 15. I do understand what you mean about the weight though.. I put on soo much weight since the wedding and it makes me so sad...If you keep doing what you are doing I am sure you will see results soon! (not that you need to lose weight!!)

I don’t know what part of that statement shocks me more… pooping yourself or having $1000 sheets!!!!

Re: Anyone ever try Alli??
Thanks for all the info & suggestions guys. I defnitely dont want to have 'accidents' & want to be safe. I really thought since Alli was FDA approved that it would be a better way to go than some other thing that was not...hard to believe something FDA approved can cause so many issues...yuck
Anyway, I think I am going to try to talk to DH tonight or tomorrow & see if we can budget in WW & try & see how I do on that. I just hate feeling like a tired blob all the time & barely fitting into clothes anymore. Plus when the time comes for me to get preggo, I dont want extra weight on top of the baby weight if I can help it.
Thank you so much for all your kind words my sweet LIW ladies - you're better than any mirror I own Love u all!
