did anyone go off BC pills? can you tell me what to expect? I'm having so many problems, and I just think it will be so much better to stop taking them. I'm going to talk to my dr. before doing this.. but just wondering what I should expect??

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
You should definitely talk to your doctor first, but I'll tell you about my experience.
I just went off BC about a month and a half ago. I have to say that I did feel a little bit nauseous around the time when my period was supposed to come, (which doesn't normally happen to me) and my cramps were absolutely HORRIBLE, which I expected because that was one of the main reasons I went on the pill to begin with 10 years ago. Those were the only two negatives. AF only came a day later than it usually does and still ended on time. I didn't have any spotting or anything throughout the month, or since AF left. And I must say the mood swings have gotten better. All and all, I'm happy with my decision to stop the pill. Hope that wasn't TMI. Good luck!

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
I actually stopped the pill the first of January. We decided it was time to let God decide if it was time for us to have a baby. Well, I can say that I have not had a period since then. So it has been about 3 months since I had a period. I have taken an at home pregnancy test and that came back negative. I put a call in to my Dr. yesterday so they want me to come in a take their pregnancy test and then if that is negative the Dr. will prescribe me something that will start my period. Other than that I have felt fine.

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
I stopped taking the pill in the beginning of January, I was on it for about 10 years…..before going on, I used to have HORRIBLE cramps and I was very irregular, getting it like every 3-4 months. Now that I've been off for a few months, so far I've only had my period once, I got it last month and when I did it was 10 days late- but surprise surprise- I had NO cramps!!! Which I was very happy about, and my period was really light considering how late I was. That was the last time I had it though!! As of today I'm 23 days late!!!! I've taken 2 pregnancy tests though and they're negative, my friend thinks I should go to the doctor, but right now I'm just chalking it up to being irregular. I'm happy I came off the pill just to get it out of my system for when we do want to get pregnant (which is not now!! lol). HTH.

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
thanks girls!!! I've been on it for like 10 years ro so since I get cysts, and it helps, but my cyles are all screwed up in the last few months and the heart Dr. thinks my hormone levels are too high, which could be lading to all the bone problems i'm having, so i think it meakes sense. On BC AF is like 10 days, i hope and pray it doesn't last longer

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
My doctor recommended I to go off the pill, too.
I was only on it for about 8 months but ever since I have had high blood pressure and they think it is the hormones in the pill that had caused it.
I have been off the pill now for about a month and a half and nothing so far with AF. I guess we will see........
Good luck to you and I hope AF is not too bad for you.........

I felt fine. But everyone is different. Talk to your Obgyn and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
I might be going off of them this week. I am in the process of changing doctors due to the move and my old one will not give me a refill on the prescription since I have not been there in the last 6 months and my appointment with the new one is not until the 9th and I need the pills for Monday....so frustrating. I should only be off of them for a month though.

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
I went off them three months ago. For some reason my period went wacky and I got it like 3 times in 1 month and I had it. I went off the pills and I am still not regular, but I think I am getting there. I have noticed an increase in headaches and major cramps which I did not have while on BC. I have also been spotting for a few days prior to getting my period. I am hoping that I will become a little more regular soon! HTH

Re: Anyone go off BC pills?
I decided to go off the pill about 5 months ago because i had a terrible migraine (emergency room bad) and when i went to the neurologist for follow up he recommended i stop the pill. in addition to the migraine i woke up almost daily with headaches for a very long time, years practically. So those factors make a woman a high risk for having a stroke, so i decided there's got to be a better way!!
so far i also feel less anxious (was having panic attacks too), my period is longer and heavier and yes the cramps are back but it beats the increased risk of stroke any day!!
good luck
