Anyone have a wedding gift check bounce? UPDATED again on 8/27

OK so we got our mail yesterday and there was a notice from our bank informing us we are being charged $10. for a check that bounced. My cousin and his wife attended the wedding and gave us $200 and their check bounced. My cousins (all older than me, all have been married for over 12 years no,, done having kids, etc.) have been very inconsiderate throughout the whole process (all of my female cousins cancelled for my shower with only a few days to go, they complained that their kids couldn't come... there would have been 51 kids at my wedding). We used to be a very close family and well, they just are self-centereed and VERY cheap. I've had it... I was always there for them and was very generous despite being a student when they all got married. Another cousin and his wife (pretty well off) gave $50. I took it more of an insult because it's not as if they don't have the money, they are just really cheap.

So much has happened over the years regarding these people that I can't even get into but I feel like I should call them on it. For years now they have been very selfishin their actions towards the rest of the family. How do you do that? So now we have to pay a $10 fee?

So should I call them and tell them the situation? I know they know but I feel like they should have to explain themselves after being 'ridiculous' for so many years.

What should I do?

Sorry girls there has been more to this story now...

Well I waited two weeks for my cousin to call me back. He had called twice, I saw it on the caller ID but neither time did he leave a message. DH finally said call him. My cousin has 8 kids so I called a few Saturdays ago at 9 AM. Anyone who has that many kids is up.

He told me, 'Oh sorry I'm balancing 5 checkbooks'

I swear that is a quote. Donald Trump doesn't have 5 FR!@#ING checkbooks!

OK, this was over two weeks ago and they live in Jersey so...

1. My father was VERY generous to them 15 years ago when they got married (I was in college). Keep in mind my Dad was single, was on strike from the phone company (ZERO $ coming in to the house) and had me at Ithaca College... the tuition was 1/2 his gross income.... over $1200 a month 15 years ago!!! He painted their entire condo, gave them $500 and videotaped and edited their wedding!!! Yes, $500, 15 years ago and he was on strike!!!

2. They bounced a check, knew it and did not call me. the bank tried to put it through 5 times

3. LIE #1- 'I'm balancing 5 checkbooks'. Please... I'm my Dad's power of attorney and I don't have 5 checkbooks
I don't think ENRON had five checkbooks

4. LIE #2- That he sent out the check. Unless he mailed it from the International Space Station...

If they couldn't give a gift, they couldn't give a gift. Personally, I would never do that but whatever. You don't attend someone's wedding and CHARGE THEM a $10 FEE!! The real problem with all of this is is he LIED TWICE AFTER THAT!!!!! Especially after my father was so generous to them. Now my Dad is homebound from a stroke for 8 years. Do you think him or his wife ever even call? That's not right.

Sorry so long. I'm not going to offer the info to anyone in my extended family but if they ask... I'm not holding back, I just don't care anymore.

Some of our guests need to be flogged in the town square. What happened to common decency?
