Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
YES YES YES...
I can beat whatever story ANYONE has:
Here's what was copied:
For my bridal shower, my mom didn't use the 'Susan's Bridal shower' ribbons. So, I tied them all into bows and glued them onto my thank you cards. This bride did the SAME thing. SAME THING!!!!!
The mother of the groom wore the same idential gown that my mother wore to my wedding, and even did her hair the same way.
the wedding color was the same. Actually, this bride was going to use lilac, but after she attended my wedding, she changed it to red!
The bridesmaids dresses were the David's Bridal knock off version of my Bill Levkoff bridesmaid gown
The bride wore the same veil as me
They used the SAME readings and songs for the ceremony.
The groomsmen wore the same tuxes, same color- but they had paisley vests instead of herringbone vests
The bride had the BMs do their hair the same way that my BMs had it done. We even had one of the same girls- she looked identical at both weddings. IDENTICAL
I gave out favors for my rehearsal dinner. They used that SAME favor as a place card holders at their wedding.
And, all of my aunts wore the same color to my wedding. They decided to do this on their own because they thought it would be cute. They all wore blue. And, it was cute. This bride requested that all of the aunts wear purple to her wedding- so all of the aunts were in purple.

I know. Did you see the part I edited? Her original color was supposed to be lilac, but after my wedding, she changed her color to red.
so, what's your story?

Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
I try to take it as a compliment if people use my ideas. As long as they don't have the same guest list, I don't really mind. I got most of them from here anyway, so they weren't really mine to begin with
ETA: Similar dresses and color scemes might tick me off a tad!

Who then copied EVERYTHING you did?!?!!?
Yeah, I have friend getting married almost exactly a year after us!I thikn of lot of the simliarites are coincidences though.
We got married on the Saturday of Columbus day weekend & they are getting married on thr Friday. so, they are also having a fall theme & having similar centerpeices. And she was oenof the peopel that took a CP home, so I thikn that she was a little 'inspired' They almost picked the same band too, but that was a coincidence.
I don't think much else is the same though. BM dresses & bouquets are differnet, favor is very different ( they are doing a donation)

Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
I was at a wedding this weekend where the bride used something out of my program word for word.
I was flattered. But those other stories are just plain REDICULOUS.

Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
While I was engaged, I did not have a working computer at home, so I did a lot of work at my DH's house. I worked really hard on our programs - hours - picking the right font, wording, looking up poems in endless books, etc to get it just right. One of my MIL's friends came to the wedding and her son was getting married 2 weeks after us. While DH and I were on our honeymoon, she called my MIL and asked her to forward her the file that I did my program on so her son could just fill in their names!!!
I didn't find out until later, and it is flattering to a point, but you just want to be appreciated for all the hard work you put into it!

Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
I was amongst the first of my frinds to get married, so a few people have 'borrowed' some ideas from me, but I don't rally mind. I just wnt to a wedding this weekend and my friend had the same exact favors. I was the only on who would have known, so it wasn't a big deal. A lot of people are using the same slippers as me because they thought it was such a great idea.

Re: Anyone have an engaged guest at your wedding..
Yes my second cousin - actually we were flattered didn't bother me at all - they copied our seating cards (we did an art theme and put art post cards into a photo type card) they copied this but with postcards of photos of manhattan. They told my parents and grandparents that they specfically copied the idea.
They also used the exact same readings that we had used - and had my uncle read the same reading he read at my wedding.
I wasn't at the wedding because I was living out of state at the time and flying in for another wedding two weeks later - but apparently they told my parents that they used other ideas from our wedding as well - but I can't remember what they were.

OK, I take it all back!! I gave a friend my OOT guest information book as a kind of guide for her daughter's wedding. When I read her version she copied my entire letter to the guests, word for word, and just put the Bride and Grooms name on it. Then she copied my Mom's letter and put hers on it. I think my Mom was more upset than I was when I told her.
