ive been on the pill for a long time but ive been so headachy for the last year and a half, with 2 major migraines thrown in, the neurologist recommends going off (higher risk of stroke with being on the pill + migraine). so i'm looking into alternatives

I hear you, I have had so many issues with the pill over the past 7year or so, and I need to find another method. I wanted to look into the sponge but don't really know what it is the whole thing is verrry frustruating!

WOW- I'm gonna talk to my doc about that. I've been on the pill for almost 10 years now and I get severe migraines (throwing up, have tto be in the dark..). Maybe I should start looking for an alternative!

this is from the today sponge website:How long was the Today® Sponge been off the market and why?
The Today® Sponge was originally introduced in June 1983 and remained on the market until January 1995. During that time millions of women used it safely and effectively. However, the former manufacturer, after weighing the cost of the modifications that would be necessary to bring its plant up to acceptable manufacturing standards, decided to stop making the Today® Sponge. The FDA did not object to continued production of the Today® Sponge under appropriate manufacturing and hygienic conditions like those currently employed in the manufacturing process.

what gives me pause is the website says its only 89-91%effective in preventing pregnancy. thats not such a great %

Re: anyone use the sponge?

I agree, that percentage rate isn't very impressive... I can't believe I had no idea the sponge was taken off the market... just goes to show how long I've been on the pill... but here's the thing... what else is safe and effective that's out there BESIDES the pill? I feel like I have no options that aren't very intrusive. Does anyone else use an alternate method of BC (besides the pill?)
