Are banks good places to look for jobs???

I am looking for communications jobs, and today I looked at the website of every college on LI, every hospital, and I just started looking at big banks. Do you think I should bother with the banks? With all the takeovers? Or are big ones like Citi, Bank of America still good bets???

I don't mean to be a debbie downer but I don't know what is a safe bet these days. You can always apply and still look for jobs that you think might be safer. At least you'll have some sort of income, KWIM?

Oh, I know - just wanted to see what people's opinions were - I mean, I know banks aren't going to fold altogether - but would I be wasting my time by looking at bank websites??

I vote no but thats because im in the finance/ banking world and its so volatile, i think there might be safer options out there. good luck in your search.
