Ok, so this morning DH's dad calls him at freakin 7:30am!!! And it wasn't even for anything important. W.T.F?? Isn't it just common courtesy to wait until at least 9:00???? ESPECIALLY on a SATURDAY morning? So that woke me up and I never fell back asleep And it's not the first time either - - I few weeks ago he called at 6am! And seriously - it's never for a reason that can't wait.
Then his mother (as much as I love her) needed to borrow our Tom-Tom for a day. No problem. The only issue i had with it is that she never gave it back. And when we needed it the following weekend, WE had to drive the 45 minutes to her house just to pick it up from her. Doesn't that seem a little rude? If YOU borrow something, it's YOUR job to return it. I'm not alone in this kind of thinking, right?
And every time his mother needs something for her car, it's always DH's job to get it for her and she gets really mad if he doesn't. So the latest is this odd piece she needs and he had to go thru all this work hunting it down and ordering it for her. Well, it just came in this morning so after we picked it up, he called to tell her. Well - of course she doesn't wanna come to US to get it. No, we must not only order and deliver it to her (another 45 minute drive for us) but she wants HIM to install it for her.
I'm telling you - his side of the family is nuts. I think they're very nice people and i get along with them great, but it's things like this that make me wonder
Ok, enough of that. Just had to get it off my chest.

thanks for the hugs Grrr... i'm just irritated. I'm not used to this kind of behavior from adults. I always blame it on them not being raised in New York tho. haha. I'm always saying to DH 'Freakin' Colorado people and their weird ways!!'

aw man that's a rough situation. Hopefully with time your Inlaws would stop being so dependant on you guys. As far as the early phone calls I would mention you you and DH look forward to weekends since that is the time that you get to sleep in a little later. Hopefully with that they will get the hint.

that *****
how does your dh feel about all this? perhaps he should have a chat with them and politely tell them to knock it off lol... I wouldn't bring it up though, I'd let him do it since they're his parents.

Re: are they kidding me (vent)
Dh is just as annoyed with it as I am, but he's such a push-over. He doesn't like causing trouble. (It's one of the things I love & hate about him. lol). So I doubt he'll say anything. And I'm certainly not going to. Normally I have no problem with confrontation, but I'd rather not be like that to my in-laws, especially because I really do like them. It's just these small stupid things that make me crazy. I really think dh should be handling it (as i would if it were MY parents). So I don't know.
I'm kind of surprised that his mother is so dependent on him anyway - mostly because she barely even raised him to begin with. He moved out of her house when he was like 12 and lived with his grandmother, and then elsewhere. His parents are divorced though, so I understand that she's alone and has no man in her life to take care of things, but it's not as though he's been living at home for any amount of time that would make it hard for her suddenly be without him. He's been all over (in the Navy and stuff). She only started on calling on him for things within the past 2 years. Soooo odd!

aaawww I'm sorry. I deal with the waking up issue with DH kids when the stay over. I would suggest that you talk to DH and mention it to him, and request that he ask his family not to call till after 10 am unless it is an emergency. He can tell them you guys get into bed late and like to sleep in the mornings. or if he does not want to tell them, you guys can just simply not pick up until they get the hint? As far as favors, DH is always doing favors for my parents but he also makes sure that if it is something they can do themselves they do it. maybe you can suggest to your dh to tell him mom, I can't go anytime soon, why don't you come up.
have you spoke to your DH? I plan on talking to my DH. I like to sleep till 10 and 11 am and DH too but his kids wake up and start screaming (7 and 11) and playing tag (that so upsets me!) and they interrupt my sleep. They have breakfast ready and their toys and tv on but they manage to make so much noise! But I hope communication can resolve our lil problems.

It really puts a strain on the relationship ( at least I think it does) sometimes I find myself arguing (not major tho) over the things his family does....sometimes I wish they didnt live 2mins away from us..

In-laws are tricky!! It is getting used to another set of family dynamics! Unfortuntely I am doing the same. I think the people who don't have these issues are lucky!

I don't have much more to add -- but you should turn off your phone's ringer before you go to bed on fri and sat night so that you can sleep in!!!

Re: are they kidding me (vent)
thanks everybody!! It helped to have you girls to vent to. lol. It was just making me soooo mad and I didn't want to complain to DH about it. I already told him how I feel about it and he agrees. No need to keep at it and make him feel bad. Definite potential for an unnecessary argument there! Your responses were very thoughtful and really helped!!
