Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

Just curious if anyone is going to bake Christmas cookies this year.

My mother always bakes about eight or nine different kinds, and it's a big tradition in our house.

Now that I have my own DH, I want to carry on the tradition, but feel a little intimidated just thinking about all those cookies!! Maybe I can aim for four different kinds to start..

Anyone else going to bake cookies, and if so, what kind??

Re: Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

Last year I hosted a Christmas Cookie Exchange and it was so much fun. Because of the baby coming this year I will still bake 2-3 types myself but will postpone my party until Valentine's Day.

I love to bake so I do all year long.

Re: Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

I usually bake cookies too. Hopefully I'll have time this year! My weekends are already chock full!

I try and do cream chees (in the shape of Christmas trees!), snowflakes, and chocolate ones.

Re: Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

It has always been my dream that once I was married I would bake tons of Christmas cookies!!!

So to answer the question - I REALLY WANT TO, but for some reason I think this year may be out of the question. Just seems like I don't have enough time to do anything

I don't bake (unless Pillsbury's Slice and Bake's count ), but I'll gladly take contributions to my Christmas Cookie stash.

Re: Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

I usually do 6-7 different desserts, mostly cookies but some other things as well:

Chocolate Almond Balls
Coconut Rum Bars
Christmas Tree Brownies
Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge
Butterscotch Blondies
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Thumbprint cookies (with raspberry and apricot jam) although I might not do these this year because my mom made a triple batch of lintzer tarts and they're so similar.

I might replace the thumbprint cookies with this awesome recipe I found for Apricot Oatmeal Bars that I made several months ago but I'm not sure, that's a lot of bar cookies.

My mom makes the more traditional cookies-anisette, pignoli, biscotti.

I have a dream of opening up a bakery....

Yes ! We are haveing a Tree Trimming Cookie Decorating Party this Sat. I know I will do some Choc. Chips and probably some Sugar Cookies for the kids to decorate. I think I am going to use the slice and bake for the Sugar Cookies. Thats probably all I will do. I cant have that stuff around the house.

Re: Are you baking CHRISTMAS COOKIES this year??

we have cookie day every year - it started as an emergency situation when my mom freaked out one christmas and threatened to cancel everything - so me and my younger sister banded together and took a day for all the decorating, cookie baking and so on.

it has since become a holiday in our home...and yes....my mom comes to it!!! religiously! My older sister comes with the kids as well. The only rule is no boys (besides my nephew) and it's TURBO - no joking around! Cookie baking is serious business!

We blast the holiday faves and get right into it:

icing cookies for the kids that get decorated with gooey colored icing i dont like and sparkles and stuff

raspberry thumbprints

butter cookies

swedish crescents

and i usually make a couple of batches of chocolate chips for the hey of it. we have tried new recipes along the years but have always fallen back on the old faithfuls!
