Are you the 'wife' that you always thought you'd be?

Are you the 'wife' that you always thought you'd be?

I have brownies baking right now. And, it just struck me...when I was in middle school and high school, I always used to say that I'd be a career woman who wouldn't have ANY time or ANY desire for 'domestic work'...

Well, the career part is true...but, I am also VERY much into the domestic stuff.

Ahhh, if the 17 year old me could see the 26 year old me...she'd BARF!

I always thought I'd take care of the little things in the house, and do all the little things for my husband and be super organized.

Well, I think I have about half of it down. I'm so not organized! We are out growing our apartment quickly, and it's time to go through things and get rid of stuff, or store it at my IL's basement. If I had more time after work, it would probably be better, as it is, I just want to have dinner and spend time with David before falling asleep.

As for the little things, I try my hardest to do them whenever I can. If I see his bar of soap is low, I'll take out a new bar for him, just little things that he appreciates. He does the same for me though too.

Mine would too! Especially since I married a very straight laced, Federal Law Enforcement Agent, who was 12 when I was 17!!

I think I thought I would be more of a house-wife and that I would be the one to prepare dinner and clean and decorate, etc. But my husband does his fair share of cooking and cleaning and it's very hard to decorate anything because we don't ever agree! Right now we've only agreed on cream colored walls, wood flooring and a big green plant!

But then every once in a while I'll find myself being such the housewife - one day when I wasnt' working, I was waiting for him to come home and I had a wash on, a chicken in the oven and I was ironing his shirts!

Yes, I never thought I would be a wife as early as I was (23) or mother (either 25 or just 26 by time the baby arrives) but hey life is great and I just look at it as one of the lucky ones!

hell no!!!
i'm far too domestic for my own taste - but i seem to lov eit - i just can't admit to myself that i enjoy coming home from work and cooking dinner, or washing dishes, or making the bed, or opening the blinds....
what has become of me...i'm everything i swore i'd never be......but i'm happy!!!

not at all,

I never wanted to be someone's wife growing up.

Now, I love it. DH and I pretty much share everything(chores and such) though I really think I owe him, because he pretty much did everything on his own when we first got married because I was student teaching and still getting my master's.

Boy, do I feel bad for him looking back on it. I never appreciated it then, but now I do when I go food shopping. Not fun at all, but he does the laundry so I cannot complain.

Well I swore as a teenager that I would never be a wife! I thought marriage was rediculous. However, after I met DH and fell in love I started imagining married life. It is pretty much what I wanted so far...I never envisioned being the domestic wife who bakes, cleans etc..
I pictured myself working hard at my career, having a nice home, but sharing the work etc with DH. We totally share (it gets uneven at times). But I think I turned out the way I thought I would, however motherhood is another topic. I have no idea what kind of mom I will be one day.
