Ever notice how once you're engaged, everyone has to ask, 'How's the wedding plans going'? As if you don't have enough pressure from yourself and family. Then once you get married all you hear is 'How's married life' or...the one I love 'when are you having kids' or some variation on that. Why are people so nosy?
I don't ask 'How's your kids grades...did they make honor roll? Did you pay off your credit card this month?' Seriously, people don't realize how much they pry into your life. I'm like, yeah I got married, get over it already!

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
It never ends I can only imagine the future.
When are you going to have kids? When are you having another What school are you sending them too? Oh public not private school? What college does he want to go to? Did he get a job? Is he dating? What do you mean he is not dating is he gay? Is he dating yet? Did he get married? Did they make you a grandmother yet?
When people ask me when I am having kids I just say I don't know then ask them when they plan on dying.

yeah, I'm sick of the 'How's married life?' question! I never know how to answer - what is it they want to hear? Do they really want me to tell them or are they just asking because they can't think of anything else to say?

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
I get the 'how's married life?' question all the time! It's pretty annoying because I never know what they expect to hear so I just say 'good thanks' every time. I told one of my co-workers I had to go for a dr appt right after work today, and she gets this silly look on her face, touches my stomach, looks at it and goes 'OMG is it a baby?!?!!!' I think I just gave her a strange look... I laugh it off but it's true people can be so obnoxious & nosy!!!!

OMG I hear ya!!! I feel like answering these people with......'married life you ask?? oh it's just fab!! we sit around and argue over what to watch on tv, just for him to get his way and then fall asleep within 10 minutes of the program being on......married life, it's AMAZING!' do these people expect us to air out how married life is REALLY going?? if its going well than that means I have a boring *** answer for you!!! if its not going well, I'm not telling you miss nosy co-worker!! lol
ETA- we've lived together for 5 years, so I think that's what adds to me being annoyed by this question, people should realize its the same old sh*t! some people who ask me know we lived together, they just have nothing better to say!

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
omg, i totally hear you with this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when dh & i were dating, every time i saw people it was all about 'so, when are you going to get engaged?' and 'why aren't you engaged yet?' and 'do you think it will be soon?' and 'what is he waiting for?'
it got me sooooo upset at the time because i really did want to be engaged, and i was frustrated with dh that he was waiting since we dated for 5 years. i felt like and when ever i knew i'd see these people.
makes you wish people would think sometimes ... especially about the baby questions ... especially b/c they have NO way of knowing if the couple is trying and having difficulties for whatever reason. (not us, yet, but just in general)
Rude! Rude! Rude! RUDE!!!!!!!!

I HATE the 'How's married life' question! Now when people ask, I say it's terrible. I love seeing their reaction. Then I say, I'm a NW, do you really expect me to say anything other than 'It's great!' But I'm a biotch like that...

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
I love the 'How's married life?' question. I usually just respond with 'Oh it's great! Thanks for asking.' Then 9 times out of 10 I get 'Yeah, well that's because you're newlyweds. You just wait a few years!' How nice.
My personal favorite though is the commentary on my age & on having children. 'I can't believe you're married! You're so young! When I was your age, marriage was the last thing on my mind! I wanted to travel Europe!' Well, how lovely for you, but me, I'm happy being married, thanks. Then I get some of the 'When are you having another child? Kayleigh needs a little brother or sister!' I hate that question because we are trying now, but I don't feel the need to share that with everyone who asks. The other half gives me 'You're going to wait a while before having more kids right? I mean you're so young & you're already married with one child. You don't want to rush it. Finish school.' Well, thank you for that.

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
The questions that have shocked me the most have all come from the same woman, she and I are members of the same charitable organization and her husband is a deacon, so you would expect a kind, open hearted woman, right?
She knew we were living to gether before we got married, so when we got engaged she asked me 'are you getting married standing up or laying down?'
and then after the wedding she asked?
'is it any different now that it's legit?'

Re: Aren't People Nosy?
My favorite was when I announced I was engaged and planning to wed in 6 months, automatically everyone asked if I was pregnant! I was so annoyed, it was not like you said, I asked them about their personal life.
A little unrelated, but I am also dying to know why people think it is okay to ask me if I am feeling well because I look so run down. Yes, I have a problem and yes, it runs me down. I am tired. Did you have to make me feel worse and point out how tired I look?
