Baby Shower Q....

Baby Shower Q....

My MIL and I were discussing children and pregnancy last week. It all began when I saw one of the front bushes shaped odly. She said it was a baby carriage and she is 'taming' the bush so when I get pregnant we can have the Baby Shower at house. She' so funny!!

Anyway, I told her I didn't want a baby shower before the baby would be born.....I feel it is bad luck.

However, I wouldn't want one after the baby because then everyone would want to hold him/her and that freaks me out.....germs, falling.

I know I am jumping the gun.....but I was just sitting at my desk thinking about this.

Is anyone else thinking of doing the same thing?

I totally see your point...most showers are VERY late in the pregnancy so the risk factor is low. However, as far as germs go, I braced myself and just never worried..my daughter didn't get her first cold until she was 2 because of this...I never bleached the floor or super-sanitized the whole house, I was exhausted enough from keeping up with laundry and diapers! I also didn't wash her clothes in different detergent..I did wash them separately. I've noticed over the years that the 'sicker' children in her classes had moms who were always scrubbing and sanitzing things the second it hit the floor.

What if you don't have a child for 5 years, is she going to have a baby carriage bush until then?

My boss is Jewish and she said that they don't have showers til after the baby is born b/c it is bad luck.

But I agree that most showers are held so late that the risk factor is very low.

Re: Baby Shower Q....

usually you give a shower at about 7-8 months

when I had my daugher (2 months early) I had my shower after. :)
