Re: baked zitti

I asked my friend for this the other day...she said she doesn't do recipes.

Layer pasta (I recently used the squiggly kind the other week...cavatappi I think it was), sauce, browned and seasoned meat, ricotta cheese, grated mozzarella.

Re: baked zitti

i second the no recipes! i refuse to follow directions..

boil a box of pasta, brown up some meat, mix some shredded mozz in wtih a container of ricotta and put it all in a casserole dish - i recommend 2 jars of sauce.

Bake at 350 for about 30 min covered in tinfoil, then 10 more minutes without the tinfoil.... give or take. luckily this is relatively fool proof.

Re: baked zitti

Baked Ziti - Serves 4

Ingredients
6 ounces dry ziti pasta
1 small onion, chopped
6 ounces lean ground beef
3/4 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
2-1/2 ounces provolone cheese, sliced (SOMETIMES I SKIP IT IF I DONT HAVE IT )
1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons sour cream (DEFINATELY ADD THIS)
2-1/2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
2-1/2 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.

2.In a large skillet, brown onion and ground beef over medium heat. Add spaghetti sauce, and simmer 15 -20 minutes ( I ALSO ADD SOME CHOPPED GARLIC, FRESH BASIL LEAVES, ITALIAN SEASONING)
3.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer as follows: 1/2 of the ziti, Provolone cheese, sour cream, 1/2 sauce mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
4.Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheeses are melted.
