Bellybutton Piercing complications?

I've been wanting to get this done for a while now...but I've seen and heard so many horror stories about girls getting massive infections there....

what are your thoughts/experiences?

Not sure what I'm going to do at this point....kinda leaning towards a 'no'

its funny...
this post made me change the ring in my belly..

the problem with the piercing is the location...
if you change between weight it may not be a great idea... (i was my tiniest when i got it.. and i am only NOW 5 years later shrinking back...) and only now do i find myself not being irratated.

*its get hot and sweaty and around clothes it just does not breathe

also if you wear clothes around ur belly button that is def not a good idea.. again teh rubbing will cause irration, infection and possible healing crooked.

about pain... it hit me 30 min after and its a bi!ch to sleep.. but thats with anything... its bound to hurt a bit.

Nothing negative meant by it at all, just a little surprised how many NWs have belly button piercings

I kept getting infections then when I got prego I took it out now i have a big scar

I got mine at 18 and not to be gross, but even though it 'looked' good, I had to constantly clean out the puss and crust that develops around the hole in order to keep it from getting infected...which it sometimes does. After about 6 or 7 years, I had enough. lol Its out now. Its just one of those bodt piercings that either causes people zero problems, or a whole boatload of thme.

I have had my belly ring for about 5 years and never had a problem. I shower every day and clean it in the shower. When I first got it I put bacitracin on it every morning for 6 months and they tell you not to chnage it for those 6 months. I change it now about once every 1-2 months. I heard if you change it often you can get an infection. I only use stainless steel rings and I have never had a problem with mine. I went to Tattoo Lous in W. Babylon for mine. I suggest you go to a reputable place. Good Luck!!

Ive had mine for about 6 years now... I have never had any problems with it at all...

wow - i can't believe all the people that have had problems with theirs! maybe because i barely change mine??? i also know SO many people that have them and i really only have one friend that got an infection..
