I've been wanting to get this done for a while now...but I've seen and heard so many horror stories about girls getting massive infections there....
what are your thoughts/experiences?

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
Never had a problem. If it gets infected-don't take it out. lol. Just keep cleaning it.

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
Mine has never gotten infected. Never had a problem,. It was sore for a while after I got it done but that's it.
I took it out during my pregnancy & popped it back in a week after I gave birth. The thing never closes up.

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
no problems. Had mine since 25 which has been only a couple of years now
Just make sure you don't wear things that sit on it or rub on it. Jeans pantyhose .. etc.. It will irritate it and it can heal sideways
And buy Sea Salt and soak that thing for 15 minutes 3 x a day for 2 weeks. You will heal wonderfully!

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
i had problems - if you have a bad shifting weight problem its not a good piecing to get. If you basically stay within a 5lbs of when you get it your fine.

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
i know this is gonna sound gross, but in the healing process, u wanna remove any/all crust that forms with a q-tip soaked in warm water BEFORE u clean & turn the ring...very important!

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
I've had mine since I was 16 & I've never had a problem with it.
Never had it infected or anything.
It's important to clean every night during the first few months, I used bactine to clean it. (of course you'll continue to always clean it but you know what I mean to really really take care of it within the first few months)
I did faint when i got it done....but I just don't do well with things like that LOL

i've had mind for about 4-5 years now and it's totally fine now. the first few months it was sore, but soaking it in sea salt worked wonders and the more i did that the healthier the piercing was

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
I've had mine since I was 18, I got an infection like 2 weeks later but the Dr. said thats cause I was cleaning it to much and never letting it dry out so germs were actually drawn there... needless to say, I never moved it or touched it again and my skin has now grown around it to the point were we can't get it out. She tried in the office since another infection turned to staf, but it hurt so bad! she told me to go to the ER and she would take it out there. I refused I was so scared. It cleared up and now its just stuck in there. I have to have it surgerically removed before I plan to get pregnant, but thats awhile away i think.
I still like the way that it looks cause i have a funny looking belly button. but my experience isn't normal, at least i dont think.

Re: Bellybutton Piercing complications?
I had such a bad infection, I had to take penicillin for a week. It was oozing this smelly green puss and had a keyloid around the opening. It was really gross. He told me to take the penicillin and when it healed to take the ring out. I never did! Almost twelve years later and its fine. But if I had to do it again I probably wouldnt because of how nasty it got!

I had mine for 14 years....never had a problem....just recently took it out...make sure you get a round ring first so that you can easily spin & clean it...i used to use Betadine solution to clean it in the shower.
