Best bridal shower ideas

GIve me your favorite parts about your/ or others bridal showers! I have to throw one for my best friend in may

My bridal party/mom/MIL put together a BOOK (like, a REAL BOOK with binding and a hard cover) of pictures of DH and I growing up ... from babyhood to adulthood ... I cried and cried and cried when I saw it.

They also took polaroids of every guest and had the guest write down one piece of advice for DH and I ... then the BMs put it together in a little picture book ... I loved that too!

My BP decided to say SCREW YOU to me when I demanded that there be no bow-hat, and that if I had to have anything, to make a bow-bouquet....so they started piecing it together as I was opening gifts, and then when I was done, they all circled me, lunged, and tied me to my chair with it....because they made it a BRA!!!!! It was the funniest part of the shower, and my only surprise since I knew about the shower before hand, and by far my favorite memory of it. Of course...not for everyone, but fits my sense of humor.

Also, I really like the 6 bottles of wine presentation with the poems. I wanted my sister to do that for mine, and sent it to her, but they didn't end up doing it and I would have really liked that.

at mine we played the newlywed game and it was soooo much fun...i had like 8 sticks of gum in my mouth lol

also th timer game is fun cause people win prizes

I loved getting the wine basket at my shower and we also played a game where they passed around different pictures of me growing up and you had to guess what age I was in each picture.

Also, for prizes my mom and BP did scratch offs and they were a HUGE hit!

They made me a giant scrapbook that a bunch of people put pages in… like each of my BMs made a page or two with pics of us together and wrote a little paragraph about us… and then my mom, MIL, cousins and aunts all made pages too! I only looked at the pics at my shower bc I knew reading everything they wrote would make me cry (and when I read it later that day I totally sobbed.)

Ooh and they got outdoor martini glasses and each of my BMs and my mom decorated one for me.

And they found some sort of poem, and had an item of lingerie to go with it for each night of the HM.

This is the candle poem that I use when I give the basket as a gift

A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first

I also love the idea of giving each guest a an index card for them to write one piece of advice for the bride on...then put them n a photo album or scrap book for her to save!

I can’t find the poem my girls used for the lingerie line… one of my friends is really good at poetry so maybe they wrote it themselves? I’d look harder but I’m at work and I’m afraid of what will show up.

my mom ordered me a recipe box and sent the recipe cards out to each guest with the invite and asked for a recipe from everyones 'home'

I am using the recipes, i love them and i love the idea. It was so aweseome.

I wish I'd had a lingerie line! Though I did receive a TON of nighties and chemises.

I am not a huge fan of bridal shower games, but I liked the 'how well do you know Cathleen and Marc' thing (no one got them all right). I know that most people will disagree with me, but I really don't like the toilet paper / wedding gown game.... almost as much as I despise the dirty diaper / chocolate guessing game at baby showers.

My fav part of mine...... well mine wasn't at a restaurant, it was at SIL's gorgeous house; little things were very personalized. The food that was catered encompassed all of my favorite things; seafood salad in martini glasses, personal quiches, warm spinach salad, my favorite champagne was served... that sorta stuff. The cake was unbelievable, it was a Scrabble board! (DH and I are NUTSO competitive). I collect salt + pepper shakers, so the favors were '2 peas in a pod' shakers for guests. Oh and I loved my invitations (I'm obsessed with all things paper related); they were done by a different SIL and she got them at weddingpaperdivas). She knew that I had selected hydrangeas for the wedding and used the same theme.

I had no demands or make any requests regarding my shower, everything was a complete surprise (including the date, which I only figured out a few days beforehand! )

Even a baby shower won't be the same, it'll be all about the kid!

My mom got paper umbrellas from Oriental Trader and we hung colored ribbon from them. It was a beautiful and inexpensive decoration.

My neighbor had a shower were they got tall tables and decorated them with pink cellophane table clothes which they tied to make each table look like a martini glass. It was very cool.

I love the Hat made from the bows! Thats the best part of the shower


The game I enjoyed most was when they asked me a list of Questions about DH, he had answered them beforehand. My answers had to match his.
