Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
I'm sorry his speech wasn't what you expected Our bestman did a good job but mainly only spoke about DH and him being friends over the years.
But i was at a wedding once where the Bestman started talking about how the Bride & Groom were such a great couple...one of those strong couples you know will be together forever, etc. then he starts saying how there are a few other couples that are just as great....starts naming them and talking about THEM. It was so weird lol Not a good speech at all....but a memorable moment to say the least !

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
I met the best man THE DAY BEFORE our wedding. No joke. He lives far away & I had never even so much as talked to him on the phone. So needless to say, he announced to the entire wedding that he just met me, which kind of made me feel stupid.
But he did say 'Caroline, although I just met you, I love you already.' So I guess that was alright.

Our best men gave pretty good speeches, but even if they hadnt, I wouldnt have been upset. Heres the thing -- people get very nervous when giving speeches. He may have had a great speech written out for a long time, but got so nervous that random stuff just came out when the time came. You cant blame him -- he probably wanted to talk more about the two of you as a couple, but it seems like he had shell shock and just got stuck. I'd let it go if it were me.

My MOH gave a speech, was more like a poem very sweet but she was a ball of giggles through-out
BM, was DH lil brother..needless to say there were a lot of personal anecdotes but it was amusing..They both gave me copies of their speech, which I thought was very nice..

Our Best Man was DH's brother, and they're not close. I mean, the first time I met the guy is when he came out here to be fitted for his tux. So naturally, his speech wasn't much. I mean, I should just be really glad he didn't say anything innappropriate but I was a little disappointed, he could've said a little more.

The BM speech was okay, but the speech my MOH gave was amazing. She spent so long working on it and it really showed. Everyone laughed and cried during it. It was perfect and suited both me and DH very well.

our best man was DH's brother... he did a great job. spoke about steve (my husband) and how I've accepted him for all he is and that he knows how much I mean to him... and that through the years he's come to accept me as a sister... not a dry eye in the house... it was honestly beautiful..

best man was my DH's brother, whom i met 1 time before that--since he lives in Floriday. the speech was okay. he made a good joke and everyone laughed and then kept it short and sweet--just the whole 'glad my brother is happy and wish you both the best'
i liked it that way--nothing too crazy. i hate when best mans make a speech alllllll about the grooms like they were gay together before.

our BM was DH older brother. he forgot his speech the day of the wedding at this mothers house. we read it the next day and it was beautiful and i was sad he couldnt of read it at the wedding. i started to cry when i read it. so he made something up the day of it was nice but his speech he wrote would of been a lot nicer.

Disappointed would be an understatement with our BM speech!
It was DH brother and he made it up on the spot - even though he knew about it for months - and did not do a good job.
Whatever! I don't let it bother me.

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
I wouldnt say I was disappointed but I was shocked at how short it was
The BM is the younger brother of DHs best friend who passed away-they were like brother to each other. All he said was...Tommy you know i love you like a brother and given the circumstances you ARE my brother...that was it
In once sense I was liek...is he F*&%^& kidding me...but given the circumstances I was glad the two of them didnt start bawling their eyes out and no one got upset

Our BM speech was amazing....there were laughs and tears...it's DH's Older Brother...and they are very close to each other....he didn't speak about the past but the future and how he now has a little brother and a little sister....DH's brother is known to be a comedian etc...so everyone was anticipating a funny speech....instead it was a little of both....it was from the heart... and one of the best speeches I've ever heard

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
I went to a wedding once where the BM speech was about 30 minutes long. I was dyyyyyyyyying to get up and get a drink, but you had to cross in front of him to get to the bar. The MOH speech was about 10 minutes and then there were two other fairly long speeches. We were all staring at each other in disbelief. To make matters worse, all but the MOH speech focused primarily on the groom and his love of sports and fishing. I would way rather have a short speech than that!

he was so cute about the speech....ive known him since i was 17 yrs old so he's like a brother to me and he was sooooooooooo nervous i felt so bad for him but he did well and had people laugh a little so despite the awkward nervousness i think he did a good job

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
Our Best Man did the same thing you described - always said how great his toast would be for the wedding, how we should look forward to it, etc etc.
On that day, the speech was very short - he made one stupid joke, spoke about himself and nothing else. I was a little disappointed...
but then - my sister, my MOH, gave the most heartfelt speech (and she HATES public speaking) which made me cry...

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
Our Best Man had a really wonderful speech. It was like one of those speeches you would hear in a movie. We were both so touched. My MOH and 1 BM also made a toast, but it was much later in the evening. My MOH was short and sweet, but my BM was totally intoxicated and made a fool of herself. I felt terrible for her!

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?
Our BM had a great speech, he didn't deliver it well though...
He was giving MOH a hard time about using notes and whatnot and teasing her about using them. So, she decided not to use them and gave a phenomenal speech and well, it kind of caught him off guard so he stumbled through his.
He gave us a copy of it and still is apologizing. His wife was so mad because the BM speech at their wedding wasn't that great so this was a big point between him and DH (DH wasn't his BM, another friend was).
