the BM didnt even speak.. I thought he would but right before we were going to walk in to the reception hall he said he was too nervous.. but my MOH gave the most amazing speech and she included FH so much because she knew she was the only one saying a speech.. so NICE!!!

omg... yes! i love my BIL... DH's best man, but it was bad. it was not really a speech. it was more like 'you guys are great together, good luck.' i think he was done in literally 10 seconds. DH basically helped raise him b/c their mom died when BIL was so young... and DH has made SOOO many sacrifices for him... i just thought it would be more meaningful and poignant. or at least a few funny stories.... but NADA!

my MOH speech though was great!

DH's bestman was his older brother and he gave the most adorable speech! I was so surprised! He spoke about his brother and their relationship throughout the years and then threw me in there and mentioned that 'we are an inspiration to other couples' which i thought was so sweet! i loved it

Re: Best Man Speech, Was anyone really disappointed?

Our best man didn't give a speech--our best man was my fifteen-year-old stepson, and he really didn't want to get up and give a speech. Although he would have if we asked him, he's a good kid. So we had my husband's good friend Trevor get up and talk as an impromptu thing. We hadn't thought about it, to be honest. But Trevor is great, he's a musician, a lead singer (and a mortgage broker the rest of the week!) and he's used to being up in front of an audience. He talked about finding love a little later in life, and how it can be the most amazing love of all, because you're more experienced and you know the value of things. He didn't go into details, he only talked about us, but he tipped his head to his wife--they also were married not long ago, and they found each other in their late 30s, just like my husband and I did. It was a wonderful, touching speech.

Our BM is an actor out in LA, and his speech was awesome. He kept it short but talked about knowing DH since college, told a few funny stories about DH, and said that he knew when he first met me that we'd be together b/c he saw how happy I made Bryan. Very sweet.

Our MOH was my sister and before we agreed that she could do a speech, I told her she had to make sure it wasn't long or dumb. So she started out by saying 'Becky told me if I was allowed to talk it couldn't be long or dumb...' Her's speech wasn't bad either, and she ended it by welcoming Bry to the family, even if he is a Mets fan! (My family loves the Reds).

i was disappointed with my best mans speech. It was just so generic. My sister though (my MOH) did a fabulous job!

Our whole Bridal Party gave speeches and it was incredible! They all made me cry - all 6 of them! Incredibly touching speeches that were very well prepared and executed.

I met the best man THE DAY BEFORE our wedding. No joke. He lives far away & I had never even so much as talked to him on the phone. So needless to say, he announced to the entire wedding that he just met me, which kind of made me feel stupid.

But he did say 'Caroline, although I just met you, I love you already.' So I guess that was alright.

I can beat you... I met him for the first time AT THE CHURCH We tried to meet several times before, but his fiancee kept cancelling but it was ok, becuase he was not responsible for any speech.

we don't like sitting through all those speeches done by people who are nervous &/or intoxicated.... so we actually only had one... by me I just thanked everyone for coming, and sharing our day. 1 min, impromptu, done by a sober bride with no stage fright... and it was over.....

I went to a wedding once where the BM speech was about 30 minutes long. I was dyyyyyyyyying to get up and get a drink, but you had to cross in front of him to get to the bar. The MOH speech was about 10 minutes and then there were two other fairly long speeches. We were all staring at each other in disbelief. To make matters worse, all but the MOH speech focused primarily on the groom and his love of sports and fishing. I would way rather have a short speech than that!

haaa i had a similar experience at my cousin's wedding. he married into a family of psychologists and her mother made a speech about Jung and Freud and it was like 20 min, then the moh made a 10 min speech that dragged on and on. my dad went off and was making fun of them, the waitstaff and my whole table were cracking up. everyone kept turning to look at us...yep we're definitely the black sheep!!
