Best of Luck to you Suzanne!!! What realtor did you wind up using? The same one or did you find someone better.

We went to Merrick/Bellmore/Wantagh and liked the areas...they are definite possibilities for us. They met a lot of our criteria. We went to a bunch of open houses but nothing what we are looking for - just driving and saw them so we went to get an idea and the annoying realtor already called us this morning!

I called some of the realtors that were reffered by girls on this website but ultimatly the house we wanted was an exclusive so i winded up using them,, the lady was GREAT.. she was so nice and really told us like it is.. her honesty was a breathe of fresh air!! LOL... we told her this was our first house and she is really really helping us.. i feel very comfortable with her..she didnt harass us either... We drove around and looked at open houses yesterday too.. we saw a BEAUTIFUL house in seaford in disctrict 6 (which is good) and loved it, the ktichen was brand new a year ago, it was unbelievable, with a finished basement..we ultimatly decided on the belmore house because it was just as beautiful and there was a garage also, and we love bellmore..

did you see anything inpartiular that you liked?

Well, we only went inside 3 houses in the areas...random open houses. We saw some parts of all three areas where we could see ourselves living. Saw some gorgeous homes in South Merrick but I am sure they are out of our range.

One of the open houses we went to really discouraged us. When we stated our price range (which I think personally is a pretty good range), they made it sound like we can only get a small fix me up. We have been saving for awhile and thought we could get a home in a nice area that of course we would have to fix up somewhat but not majorly...we could kind of move right in. I think people look at us and think we are younger than what we are and don't really believe our price range and keep steering us towards a real starter home and that is not what we are looking for. It is tough but kind of humorous. They keep trying to steer us to homes under our range that aren't our style.....not sure if there isn't much out there or they just don't believe us.

One was a little above our price range and not our style (tudor/colonial)..inside was gorgeous and nothing would need to be done but totally not our style. We saw some horrible house in Merrick in our price range but just a strange setup.

We cheered up a little. Someone sent us to a open house in Wantagh. The house was a significant amount less than what we are looking to spend and it was really cute. Needs some work outside and inside needs some modernization but it was nice. 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, nice size yard, living room and den...It gave us hope.

We are patient though and not in a rush..right now we are trying to figure out what we like. Merrick, Bellmore are definitely high on our list!!! We are taking a new town each week and then we will start some serious stuff .. hopefully in the next month or two.

I am so happy you found something to bid on!!! It gives you some hope that there is stuff you like out there!!!

Niecy, that happened to me to when people disourage you because of your price range.. i was DETERMINED and we found something!! im just hoping to here from them soon!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

I hate when the realtors or sellers dont beleive you. When we told them what we would put down, they were always like 'Are you sure ????!!! REALLY ???'

Where abouts in bellmore are you? the house we looked at was 1 block off merrick rd, by the coconuts..
