So the job search is slow, and I've been researching big companies on LI, places that are doing well financially and that are notoriously good places to work. I've got a list going, but can anyone recommend a company you worked for, work for now, or that you know of that fits these criteria? I'm just sending resumes out, hoping it will catch someone's attention -- anything is possible, right???

Long Island Association lists a TON of companies on LI (all sizes though, not just the biggies):

actually i just read on the website that Broadridge Financial profit rises, beats Street. they are in lake success, ny.
i check that website regularly myself. right now i am employed but who knows down the road. also, i believe Canon will be moving to Melville.

ugh don't go for a state job (they aren't hiring really anyway and if you do get hired for some strange reason it is because that section isn't state funded and you will probably get laid off) that and the pay isn't very competitive depending on what your going for.
The pay isn't great but the benefits are phenomal. State is mostly on a hiring freeze though.

What about a health insurance company? I know that United Healthcare, BCBS, HIP, all have offices on long island. Some have multiple offices.
