I have a gynecologist appt tomorrow and I'm pretty sure she wants to do a biopsy. I think it's of my cervix Has anyone had this? I'm scared and am considering taking some kind of relaxation medication before hand.
Thank you all for your posts and FMs! I just came back from my biopsy and it really wasn't horrible . In fact the actual biopsy part I didn't feel at all. She made me cough while she did it. The worst part is the cramping now, hopefully the motrin kicks in soon. I did take a valium before hand but we got stuck in so much traffic (they closed the exit we needed to get off at) we were an hour and a half late and by then the valium wore off
I have another question though, did your doctor have to make fake scabs for you? I bled so much she had to stop the bleeding by making fake scabs. I never heard of this

No I enjoy the dentist too, even for a cavity. Only because it means I get the gas. I know this doesn't make me sound good but at least i'm honest
i've only had gas at the dentist once--when i had my wisdom teeth removed and i loooooooooooooved it! i think all drs should give it too!!!

Oh good I am glad you are ok! Whew! I was worried. I did not react well when I had mine but didnt want to freak you out. I almost fainted, I saw spots and immediately laid down.
Ok so yes they had to put this wax crap in to stop the bleeding. IT will come out eventually, after a few days. Kinda nasty.

yea I bled a lot too and had to take the day off work- I dont think I had the scabs but I did have to wear a regular pad for two days (sorry if thats tmi)

Yup! I bled a lot too and they had to do something similar. Its just a sensitive area. . . .
Glad you are okay, I told you it wouldn't hurt!!
Just the cramping is annoying!

I'm glad you didn't say that because I am prone to fainting but DH said I did really well. It wasn't bad but I hope this is the only one I have to have

No the vinegar was so she can see better. There was a lot of blood and she was having trouble seeing clearly. I think she said the vinegar will help pinpoint the trouble spots, or something like that. I was too nervous to pay attention!

that's hilarious!!!! it really freaks me out that she did that so i just googled it and i found this on webmd:
Your doctor may put vinegar (acetic acid) and sometimes iodine (Lugol's solution) on the vagina and cervix with a cotton swab or cotton balls to see problem areas more clearly.
so it looks like your doc isn't that confused after all!!

I'm sorry I missed all this yesterday! I definitely would've sent you FM since I have gone thru it many times!!!
The vinegar soluttion is so that she can view the cells to biopsy. I will warn you though - you may want to wear a liner or something for the next few days b/c that stuff will leak out and (I''m sorry to be gross) but it smells so nasty!!!! I literally want to shower nonstop b/c I just hate the thought that I smell
