Birth Control Help

Ladies, i need your help. i have been on BC for about 7 years. I have been currently sick and not feeling well so i have decided to go off the pill becuase i just read all the side effects of them and i feel like that might be making me sick after all this time, i have alot of the allergic reactions listed. I also have bad acid reflux and think this might be linked to th BC pill. My doctor said to finish the pack and just stop taking them that it might be my problem. I ve heard that you can become allergic after years of taking something so to me going off it is worth it to see if thats whats making me sick. Im alittle concered on how this will affect my body with the hormon changes.

Did any of you stop taking BC and did you have any side affects after you stopped taking them. Thanks so much ladies.

i also forgot to ask. those who stopped did you finish your pack or just stop in the middle of your BC pack. My doc said i can just stop since i am the middle but for some reason i want to wait till im done with this pack and not start the next.
What did you do?

i was on the pill for 10 years and went off b/c i ran out--- silly, I know.

i had a few side effect -- heavy and painful cycles. completely irregular (every 6-8 weeks). horrible cystic acne. but I did lose 10 pounds.

The weight loss was worth it for me, so i stayed off for about a year.

just went back on the pill (this is my 4th month back on) and i've gained about 10 pounds. stinks, but it really is a miracle drug -- no pain, no pimples, just chub.

I went off twice.

1st time: 2 months of period on and off every week.
2nd time: No problem.

Kinda strange that you have an allergic reaction now, though.

i recently went off the pill and had no side effects. in fact, the more I think about it, it was the best thing i've ever done. all those hormones are NOT good for you, they're not natural. and i recently came back from a very interesting seminar about fertility awareness (DH and I want to do Natural Family Planing) and there is TONS of research that says that the pill actually increases INfertility.... it gradually wears down the natural lining of your uterus.... I didn't know that!

When you girls did stop did you finsh the pack you were on or just stop in the middle of a pack?

I dont think there are any negative side effects. I had only positive effects as far as mood and libido. When Im on BC my mood is terrible and my libido goes down. It ***** but I have to be on them!

My libido is so horrible right now its really anoying. My hubby cant wait for me to get off them, for that reason..

Mine keeps trying to get me to stop but Id rather deal with the side effects than worry about getting pregnant when were not ready. When I got off though, I was a TIGRESS!! I wish there was an alternative that was really safe.

it would be nice if there was an alternative cause we arent ready yet either for a bady so we just will have to be careful. He just realized last night we have to use other forms of safety and he wasnt thrilled until i told him my libido will be back.... Now he cant wait.

I stopped for a month and my cycle was a complete mess. I had my period for about 2 weeks. But it regulated after that.

I went off for a month and it was the worst idea ever!!! I had my period for a month and broke out!!

I went off about 4 months ago because I had migraines and woke up with headaches almost daily. I was on the pill for probably 4 years. So far no major side effects; the period and cramps are heavier but i'ts pretty regular.

I stopped after finishing the pack.

I agree about the hormones not being good for the body; I am now using the sponge.
