Birth Control Question

Hey ladies, I've been on Yaz for a little under a year now and I don't like the way it makes me feel. Can you guys recommend your Birth Control Pill and what kind of side effects you get from it.

Re: Birth Control Question

am on the generic of lo-ovral (lo-ogestrol)- I switched to it because the other one I was on (tri-sprintec which is the generic for something else I cant remember anymore) made me increbly moody.

i would like to say that the side effects are weight gain- but I have been a piggy since the wedding, so thats not it lol

otherwise no side effects for me

I was on Loestrin for almost 3 yrs. It was great, I had very minimal side effects. My periods were barely 3 days long and it even cleared up my skin a lot.

I have issues and this was the only BC that worked for me. And I tried them all!

this is a great thread, i need to switch. Right now I'm on the Ortho Evra patch, and even though I like it, I've gained about 10 pounds that i can't seem to get rid of.

Wow, there are some that I have nener even heard of. I find that the Yaz makes me moody, sad and not in the mood. I hate it and so does my Husband.
I've heard of Yasmin and Lo-estrin so i'll have to look up the other. I'm actually going off the pill for this month and will return to a new one next month.

Re: Birth Control Question

i was on the patch for awhile - i loved not having to take a pill everyday but that one makes you gain the most i think - when i didn't use it the week of my period i would drop 5-8 lbs then as soon as it was time to start again 5-8lbs gained again....i always thought that was weird and then once i stopped it completely i lost a lot of weight - doc said its b/c of the amount of horomones that the body absorbs - he actually took me off it and stopped prescribing it to all of his patients after those studies came out saying it was risky - i thought they pulled it from the market but i see someone is still on it so i guess not.....that was the easiest to remember but made me gain the most weight - i feel like we did it a lot while i was on it - maybe it made me horny?

now i am on aviane its a generic low dose pill...i like it but i think have less of a sex drive on this one same thing happens to me that i weight the least the week i am off the pills - but only like 2 or 3lbs - def not as drastic as when i was on the patch - my clothes wouldn't fit me the week i had my period when i was on the patch

my doc said there is risk to all BC and she just recommended it for me last yr b/c I hate taking a pill and i didn't really like nuvaring.

i can't wait to be off BC forever, but who knows when that will happen.
